What do you prefer-books or films?

I think that books give you the freedom to 'see' things in your own way and films border this view. When I read a book and then I watch the film I realise that I've viewed the scenes in a more exciting way. Is this the same with you?

I prefer to read in most cases, although if a film appears worthwhile I will see it. At times this prompts me to go back and read the original books as well.
Many times, a film comes across as falling short after having read a book, because the expectations are already built up for how you would have portrayed things. I enjoy it when films do a great job of staying true to the book while making minor modifications or simplifications to work in the film format.
