Have you ever been deep sea fishing? |
| |
| I love to fish, it's so relaxing and super exciting when you actually catch something! I've always wanted to go deep sea fishing but have never gotten the chance to. Even though I love to fish I don't know much about them so if I actually caught something at sea I probably wouldn't know what kind of fish it was or even if it was edible lol so I'd have to go with someone who actually knows what they're doing out there! One day I'll get the chance to go out and do this but I just want to know if there are many people on here that do it often! | | Deep sea fishing | | | | |

| | LOL That sounds awesome! My dad goes on fishing trips with his brothers and buddies to Reno every year and they have a blast! It sounds exciting because even though I don't know much about sea fish I do know what a marlin is and I know that they're huge! Did you eat it!? LOL | | | |

| | Unfortunately we didn't get to eat it. Keeping it wasn't an option either as it would have cost too much to ship back to the US. It's ok thought because the locals that run the boat take it to the local market and sell it. They then take what they earn from it and put the money back into the fishing business. You should try deep sea fishing sometime, it's a blast. | | | |

| | I love fishing, any kind of fishing! Yes, Brandi, you should go at least once. If you have only fresh water fished you will be as astounded a I was when I caught my first 59 pound fish! and he was a little one lol. My advice for a novice, find what they call a headboat. This is a big boat where you buy a ticket to go. Much cheaper than charter cause they take more people. Also they are staffed with mates who can help you with everything. Tell them you are new to this kind of fishing and they will help you extra special cause they want you to return. They even provide and prepare the bait. My first headboat trip was here in my state of North Carolina. The boat took some 70 fisherpeople. The trip was an all day trip for only $35. that included a rod/reel to use, bait, mates, bathrooms, a cook in the cabin who fixed sandwiches and burgers and such and of course a skipper to drive. And the trip was all day. All day of fun for $35? sign me up!! LOL It is so different but I loved every second. I caught enough fish that day to pay for my trip. We sold what we wanted to to a fishhouse right there at the marina plus I brought 20+ pounds of filets home. It is a great first deep sea experience cause anytime you feel you are at a loss you just yell "mate!" and help arrives.. And take it from me, a girl going alone gets lots of help and advice from the mates and the other fishermen. My brother goes sometimes and I love him, but I love going alone more. Great place to meet guys who love fishing too (wink). One hint, most of them let you take a cooler. Food is expensive on the boat, naturally, so I take food and drinks with me. To combat seasickness take some ginger ale. Ginger is a time honored cure for nausea. I am lucky, have never been seasick. My best catch yet was a 112 pound tuna. I only weigh 108! Talk about excited, I was beside myself. Took me over an hour to land him with the others cheering me on. And he was the third biggest we caught that day. Then they hang the catch from the railings when you get close to landing so everyone waiting at the dock can see all the catch. They cheer too, and you feel like a real winner. Often the locals come down to meet the boats and will want to buy part of your catch for their supper. I hope you will try it and I hope you love it as much as I do.
