after katrina ( hurricane katrian ) wiped most of it off the map. the houses are still destroyed the bridges are still down, but the casinos are up and running. you may have to drive through blocks and blocks of devastation to get to the casino, but once you do you can gambol to your hearts content. some say that it is to provide an economy base but why are so many locals still homeless almost two years after the storm. America rebuilds other countries faster than we do our own. this seems strange to me. i have heard people say well those people should have been prepared, well should not everyone in a natural disaster area be prepared, what makes these people less needy than earthquake survivors. i do not understand how we sweep this under the rug now that it is old news, supposedly 50 billion or more dollars in federal aid was spent, on what casino gambling? look at the area new orleans to mobile alabama, and tell me where did that money go. hire a cruise ship at ten times the amount it made at sea?? our fellow citizens still suffer, who is accountable?? mahalo, hurricane survivor refugee oahu lopaka
