| | Thanks for your answer. I love Pharao's dance too, but I take it rather for a Zawinul's tune. I love all kind of miles' "costumes" from "milestones" to "amadla" passing trough "my ship", and the wayne shorter quintet etape... | | | |

| | It's one reason I love Zawinul so much too but I'm not sure he composed Miles tunes on this one too . | | | |

| | Yeah, Zawinul has composed many themes for miles Davis at that time, some very important for Miles career such as "Pharaoh's Dance", "In a Silent way" or "Gemini". Miles used to say he loved Joe's composition, althought they were too arranged. | | | |

| | Could you find me an article who explain Zawinul composed Miles "tunes" (I don't mean the main theme) on Pharaoh's ? | | | |

(add an s after bitche because my lot terms of used complain it is a bad word) You can also find a newer version of Pharaoh's Dance called "Gypsy" in Zawinul's clasical recordin "Stories of the Danube". | | | |

| | All of his work with Coltrane is pure magic. Kind of Blue obviously but others as well. To be honest I was never a huge fan of his fusion and later year material, though admittedly I haven't really listened to it that much so perhaps I should revisit it before I make such judgments. In a Silent Way is great, but everything thereafter I'm not too thrilled about. | | | | | | |

| | I know what you mean. But for Coltrane, I preffer what he has done after leaving Miles Davis. My favourite time is perhaps the Quintet with Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Tony Williams and Ron Carter, althought I like the others also. What about the classical musicman Miles, in the Gil Evans' time? | | | |

| | I have to agree that what he did with Coltrane was beautiful indeed; but like in all collaborations, they move on. Sometimes like in the case of Duke Ellington and his pianist Billy Strayhorn, they stay together, but for most, they move on. | | | |

| | Interesting question; I really like him when as a be bopper myself; when he went into fusion(and some may say he helped created it), I kind of liked him but couldn't get into it as much. | | | | | | |

| | I know what you mean. It is the same as for the post above. The "fusion" idea is a bit limiting, isn't it? | | | |

| | I don't know much about styles and their names, but my favorite LPs (yes, I have them on old vinyl) are Kind of Blue and Sketches of Spain. I like some of the later stuff too, some of B!tch's Brew for example. | | | | | | |

| | Must be free-jazz, especially 'murder' with John Lee Hooker. Cool jazz, the kind played traditionally in sleezy French bars, filled with cigar smoke and Pernod drinkers (as absinthe is illegal in France, nowadays - not in the UK though! Hurrah). Anything that has that 'film noir' feel, or laid back Jacques Loussier feel, always gets my head nodding, body swaying and shoulders shrugging. If you enjoy blues, too, might I recommend you listen out for the unorthodox 'Screamin Jay Hawkins' who brings humour in his lyrics, but stays true to the blues sound. | | | | | | |
