How to get rid of hiccups so they stay gone!

My husband has had hiccups for almost two whole days. He's tried breathing in a bag, has had no carbonated drinks, tried counting to get rid of them an nothing seems to help! It's really beginning to effect our sleep! Even with taking Ambien we can't stay asleep. That's why I am sitting here now, almost in tears! I need sleep and I can't get any since Matt is in there snoring and hiccuping inbetween snores!
Has anyone found a way to get rid of them? If so, how long did they stay gone? My husband got them to stop by breathing into a bag but within 20-40 minutes they came back in full force. Nothing we have tried makes them stay gone and we both desperately need sleep! He hasn't been able to eat very well, either, because the pressure and pain in his chest from hiccupping has started hurting and upsetting his stomach.
If you had any ideas, please plass them on. Thanks!

What I do is take ten to twelve ounces of water and drink it down but the trick is you have to hold your nose while doing it. This breaks the air flow and causes them to stop. If it persists for more than 72 hours he needs to be seen by a doctor, more than likely they will give him Thorazine to serve as a muscle relaxant.

The only way that I have ever found to get rid of them is eitehr htey go away on there own or to have someone scare you . The more you scare a person the better it works in getting rid of them . Not sure if you are going to be able to scare you husband where it is really going to scare him but if this doesn't work then I think I would be making a trip to the doctor's as it seems that he has had then longer then anyone I know and although the hiccups seem like a strange thing to go to a doctor about , there have been a few documented cases where a person has got extremely ill as a result of this and it would be better to be safe then sorry .
Try scaring him if you can as this is what we have always done to get rid of them and it does work but if not , I am at a loss of what else you could try .
Best of luck !!
