do laotians really eat with the spoon as the pusher & the fork as the container?

i read from one article that laotians use the spoon as the pusher of the food and the fork as the receptacle of the food. it is exactly opposite of what is conventional. we use the spoon as the receptacle of the food and the fork as the pusher. are there laotians out there who could shed some light in this matter? or does anyone have ideas to share?
