How many people bother to search & see if there's already a discussion going?

I just read a joke that somebody posted and got a shock - it was a joke I had posted last month and this person changed it around a little bit (ruined the joke's ending too) to try & make it look different. I should have reported it but had already clicked a + before I'd read the whole thing. Why do so many people post the same thing over & over again, even copying entire posts from other posters instead of looking to see if somebody had already started one on that subject?

Thanks for marking me as best response. I still see repetitive types of discussions happening. It will be interesting to monitor the situation as we go.

I never really check. If I have a discussion or something to say I just say it. I know my thoughts and ideas aren't always going to be exclusive and I figure if someone is lame enough to copy my stuff all the more power to them because they're obviously not bright enough to think of their stuff!

Whenever there is a discussion which I can start .. I always search for it .. so that I will not repeat.. That's too bad - copy pasting shouldn't be allowed here. I want to start a discussion today -- What is love .. but when I searched for it -- there were already many discussions.. so I created another one on some different topic. How to report ?? I don't know .. I would like to know :))
