Have you ever rented one of those carpet cleaning machines? Was it worth it? Or do you prefer to have a carpet cleaning company come in and take care of it for you? There's one room in my house that has a stain on the carpet. I've rented a machine several times and each time the stain does disappear for a few days but then it comes back. I'm thinking it might be time to hire a professional service to come in and clean it.

I finally realized that carpets were dust magnets and ripped all of mine out last year.
I put in laminate flooring and I love it. Very easy to look after and don't have to worry about dirt and stains getting ground in.
Also, if you want some carpeting you can do what I did and just get a large area rug that can be moved where ever you want it and also can be replaced if it gets worn or you want a different design.

I do have the laminate flooring in most of my house. I love it! But I still have a couple rooms that have carpeting. The one with the stain is my daycare room.

I have never used a professional service but when we moved out of our appartment years ago we rented one at the local hardware to clean the carpets and it really worked good. I am a stickler for leaving shoes at the door but even still its amazing how much dirt that thing sucked up from dust being in the carpet. I have used one numerous times since than and I really do believe it helps out with dust mites and etc that can be a problem for someone who has allergies.

My husband used to be a maintenance man in apts and cleaned carpets frequently. Depending on the stain, will decide whether or not it'll come out. There is a chemical he used that got most everything out. I can't for the life of me remember what it's called, but it's not available for store bought/personal use anyway. It got out cola stains from our carpet. If it is a urine stain.. like from pets. That doesn't come out as easily and they usually pull the carpet as it seeps into the padding and into the floor. They have to use something called Killz on the floor to seal it to keep the smell from coming out again.

I have rented ones before and they do great but we just recently paid $ 100 for one at walmart that we now own and we love it!!! It's a Bison or some name like that. Check them out. They are worth every penny and you don't have to keep going to a store, renting, taking it back etc etc. Walmart has the best deals for carpet cleaners.
