chain letters on your cell phone

This is something that irks me. It's one thing to occassionally send jokes through text message. But these stupid chain letters of "send this to 8 people including me or you will have bad luck". It's one thing to get them in an e-mail. But getting them on your cell phone as a text message is annoying. It feels like a waste of my text messages. It's like you open you phone expecting a text message from a friend and instead it's some chain letter. Does this annoy you too? Do you say anything to the sender about it or do you just delete the message and go about what you were doing? OR are you one to send these to everyone you know. And if so, why do you send them?

I get annoyed with the chain messages pretty easily. Some of the jokes are pretty funny but I do not like the "send this to 7 people" things. I think it's pointless and a waste of a text message. I have been known to write people back and tell them I think it's stupid and I'm not sending it onto anyone.

I agree that they do seem pointless. Even though I have unlimited messages from those with the same carrier as me, it is still annoying. Also, I have a friend who send a bunch even though she hates them as well. And I was like, well why send the then? She said it was something to do. Sorry, but I can definitely think of something else to do.

I don't DO the text messageing thing!! The last time I sent a text message was to reply to the SWEET "I Love You" message my Sweetheart sent me, after I turned on the phone, once my plane landed in Phoenix. I thought that was adorable, and I still have the message on my phone. I'll treasure it forever. I don't use my cellphone for social purposes, especially text messages. It's a waste of time!

Fair enough. I know a lot of people who don't do the text thing either. And I'm cool with that. To each their own. I, myself, LOVE texting. But that is very sweet that you replied to their message and have kept it!

i get annoyed easily when receiving such messages. sometimes i would make fun of it though, i would reply to the sender and say that i had bad luck or something. sometimes i would just delete it the moment i see the word "send to 8, etc. people in x hours or you will have bad luck".. it's just a waste of time.
