New Website - Advice Appreciated |
| |
| I foudn myself going in all directions without any real direction if that makes sense, getting bogged down with all the affiliate's to join. After doing extensive reading and study, thanks to alot of helpful people at mylot, I decided to get my own site and concentrate on one type of affiliate and get that moving. So I decided to combine the two things that I love, Internet-design, html, xhtml, css,php and blogging and my fanatical passion of t shirts I would like some advice and tips about my website from people and good leads to top affiliate programs for t-shirts which I will look into. I'm also looking for people to trade "links" from my website to theirs, providing the websites have something in common. Thanks for reading :)

| | I would suggest Googling "tshirts" That should give yo an idea about what, if any affiliate programs are out there. If you don't find any, that's good. You have found an untapped niche. Develop your site and set up your own affiliate program. | | | | | | |

| | hi badpenny, thanks for responding, I've certainly done that already thats how I have gotten the ones that are already there. I find that getting referrals from other people can be more beneficial, for instance, affiliates sometimes offer a two, three or more tier program. So if someone refers from here they will get soemthing out of it too, plus I would like to here people personal experiences with the affiliates they have joined. | | | |

| | I have just taken a look at it. I liked the layout and thought the idea of combining a blog with t-shirt sales was a good one. Unfortunately my website has nothing to do with t-shirts so I do not think it would be appropriate for us to trade links. But feel free to take a look at my blog and if you do wantto trade links let me know. | | | | | | |

| | Thank you very much for your response. You're right, the themes are quite different, I'm leaning more toward tshirts and artistic perhaps craft type sites. I do however have a blogspot blog which is similar in theme at the moment. I'm planning to change it and start posting more about my ventures getting going with my new site and releasing how I modified the wordpress blog (its currently in draft at the moment as I'm making changes to the theme of my blog) and the process of what has worked and what hasn't for me. I've added you as a friend if thats ok and I can message you more about the blog if you like :) | | | |

| | I did some testing of using a Blog where a static website would work as well, and the static pages win hands down. That's what I do at http://100Affiliate.com and you could use the same template approach to your T-shirt site. I imagine you already know, but have you considered using your own slogans on Cafe Press products to sell on your site? http://www.cafepress.com/ | | | | | | |

| | I have indeed and something that I hope to do in the very near fuuture. One of the things I love to do is design and play around with graphics and having those on my own tshirts would be amazing! lol. Also I love to play around with html/css etc and wanted to learn php which is my new "thing to do" this year, wordpress allows me to use workign examples such as with their template tags and creating your own template pages and much more. making tshirtscene.com has allowed me to see how things work and process, so I understand a bit more now and envy those who can write/code it. And thats your site? wow I have been there before, nice and good work, you make a good point with static pages there is no need to go all out sometimes, but I wanted to have something a little more dynamic mostly for the above reasons and I have a few more plans for the future. thanks for your response :) | | | |

| | Just remember, for every 'something' you want there is a price. Going through MySQL on most servers today costs speed, significant speed. In my opinion that is the most valuable commodity a web designer has to work with and the faster you can make your site load the better. If you have your own hosting, I bet the MySql is shared on another server that's shared with everyone else that has a Blog, CMS, Database, or any number of newer technologies. Even if your HTML is served fast, the MySql can slow everything down. | | | |

| | I'll look into that, my problem at the moment is not enough hours in the day to do all I want, but thoroughly enjoying every moment. Your website is very interesting and has a lot of information on it. Thanks for posting :) | | | |
