| New Monitor  | | | |  Well the old CRT monitor was just about to bite the dust. It would occasionally go to a black screen with just a single line of light showing horizontally across it. So, my son and I were looking at monitors at various stores when we went to the "big city" and got some ideas. Then when we got home we went to www.newegg.com . I was able to get mypoints with the purchase and am so thrilled with the service I received, and the monitor is pretty sharp too!
It is a Hanns G, 19 inch flat screen/flat profile LCD, wide screen. it looks great on my desk, takes up less room that the little screen CTR and does not bother my eyes so much like the other one did.
It was on special for $150 something - had free shipping and arrived within 3 days. Plus no tax as new egg does not have any stores.
The only fault I can find with it is that it has built in speakers that sound pretty chintzy...but they are okay for basic sounds, just not for listening to music with.

| |  Well, congrats on the purchase !! I know I'll need one soon too, as I have a "sun" in the middle of my screen. I call it a "sun" because it's a bright spot, brighter than the rest of the screen about 3" x 3" in size and spreading !! I wanted a new computer system not too long ago, but oh noooooo, my husband ordered new memory sticks to give us more memory and did a system restore. Now we'll need a new monitor. He was trying to save money and at the end of all our little "upgrades" it would have been cheaper to buy a whole new system !!

| | I was really amazed when shopping around to find that a whole new computer ( a lot more computer than I have) with all the bells and whistles, lcd monitor and wireless keyboard and mouse etc - goes for less money than the monitor alone would have cost 4 years ago.
my son got a great computer last year by using the www.dell.com outlet. It was not a pre-owned but was labeled as dent and scratch. | |  Congrats modestah on the new Hanns G and hope you enjoy the advanced thing. $150 is an excellent bargain. The thing that worries me about LCD's is that they apparently only look good at their native resolutions.
