Do you find it hard to find posts on mylot? |
|
Like I will see something under "discussions with no responses" that I want to respond to, but sometimes I have to log off and want to log back on later, and I search from the tag that I remember and even though I know that was the tag the person put, it wont show up with the discussion. Why is that? Does anyone else have a problem finding posts here?

1. wachit14 (3229) | 1 year ago | Yes, I often have problems finding posts. I think the key to remembering where to find them is checking the tag words. Also, the posts with no discussions fall far behind the most active posts and that also makes it harder to find them. Too bad, because there are some far more interesting discussions there than from the hot topics list.

3. KrisNY (7280) | 1 year ago | Oh yes-- When I first log In I might find several discussions I want to answer-- but by the time I finish one the others are gone- I have half solved this by opening up 5 windows at a time-- then I grab 5 discussions when I first start-- that way 5 of them are sure not to get away! I saw some great Idol discussions I wanted to answer a bit ago-- But when I searched for Idol -- they didn't pop up-- Some days I just find things easier than others! Try opening up numerous windows and grab them before they disappear.

That usually works because you can easily go back to it later in the saved bookmarks. There will always be new discussions with no responses everyday or every few hours so it should be no surprise when you don't find what you're looking for. It helps to remember that tags of that discussion.

6. paidreader (2271) | 1 year ago | LOL, oh, yes! I have figured out a few ways to improve my search results but it's completely different when you find one you're interested in JUST as you're ready to logoff. That's something I can easily help you with.:) After losing a few discussions I really wanted to post to, I figured out the fastest & easiest way to get back to them was to create a shortcut that goes on my desktop. Just open the discussion, right click somewhere on the page and select create shortcut. You will be asked to confirm adding the link to your desktop, answer yes. Now you can logoff. When you're ready to start again, just look for the last icon added to your desktop & click to open the discussion you wanted. I created a MyLot folder on my desktop so I just drag them into the folder for desktop cleanup, but I can have several discussions ready whenever I want. I have a tendency of shortcutting several discussions or even profiles each day, since I might find several of my friends that have interesting discussions I want to go back to & explore at a later time.:) As far as tags go, each member can add up to 10 references that will help them find the discussion again, even though only 5 show up. Your entries and everyone elses are used to pull search results and not everyone puts down the same references. This allow for better searchs, however, if words are misspelled or entered differently, it can be difficult to find what you want if it's not entered the exact same way. MyLot has an informative page on tagging http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq9.aspx and on a variety of other commonly asked questions. They can be found under FAQ at the bottom of the page and are very helpful.:)

| 7. shikamaru (84) | 1 year ago | Since my lot has many people inside and the internet is always open 24 hour a day, the post that we see in the first page is always changed between the interval you have log out and log in. Its all becouse the new post by the other people slide the post that previously shown before.

ladyljs (654) | 1 year ago | I just lost computer connection, so I don't know if this will be a redundant post, but I wanted to thank you for the best response vote! As for the star, you will get back to a 10 soon...you have good discussion and excellant questions. I think that some delight in wrecking it for others, hence my 8 star yesterday. I am hoping that it goes up today...but it's just a number right?

9. sir_talk_alot (288) | 1 year ago | I encounter some problems here before. My main problem is not logging on and off, but I experience lots of downtime on this site. It seems like the server is down or something and that it gets really really laggy. The problem that has caused me is that whenever I try to make a post, my post doesn't get register and I end up have to wait several minutes. Then I reload the page and have to repost my discussion. It's really an annoyance sometimes.

10. sacmom (2956) | 1 year ago | Yes, I find it hard to find posts sometimes. Like today, I had a couple of different discussions up, but I had to reboot and now I can't seem to find them.:P I should have written down the users names along with the tag. I think I'll start doing that, just in case...
