Airbags and seatbelts...

Are they effective? I have heard so many stories on either side about saving lives and taking lives. What do you think, are they effective? Do you have any personal experience with either side of this?

That airbags kill 1 in 22 people everytime it inflates. I was kind of blown away by this number...what do you guys think?
