It is not always there will be flowers in a garden. It is necessary that there are a few artefacts thrown in for the garden to look artistic.
We have a few artefacts thrown in There are a few decorative pots, steps, arches and...

This bird bath was just seated on soil, and it was on a slope. Something knocked it over recently so I decided to put flat bricks under it to level it.
I got even smarter and put the bricks up on the non-functioning water meter....

Vince was able to get a photo of a red-eared firetail finch (Stagonopleura oculataince) that came to the birdbath at our house-sit. This one decided to drink at the bowl underneath the birdbath.
These tiny birds are only found in...

I love to watch them when they frolick in the bird bath. These baby birds come in a group, chirping while they swim in the bird bath. They will only swim in the shallow as they know it is not safe to get into the deep

It was interesting watching the waterfowl having a bath in the birdbath With its very long legs it could just about manage to dip the legs and a quick dip of the head but not the body.
It seemed satisfied with this kind of a...

The photo was taken of some of the birdbaths in my brother-in-law’s backyard. It is an oasis of calm in a busy suburb and dozens of birds visit regularly.
There is a bit of a blur slightly to the right and just above the highest...

I have been busy and not paying attention much to the yard. Waiting for rain that did not come.
It hit me last night that the birdbath was dry, and also that the places wild things usually find water are likely dry as well.
When...

We went to the local hardware store last week and picked up the birdbath you can see in the photo. There aren’t many birds around here yet but I’m hoping more will come when all the construction work finishes.
It is tucked in...

The birds in our garden have to be vigilant specially the little ones as our cats just will not leave them in peace in the birdbath. I told the little ones they should be careful as I cannot help them and I see they obeyed me....

The kangaroos were back at the house this morning. The first three photos were taken through the French doors of our bedroom. One shows the doe scratching an itch with her hind claw. You can also see them holding some dried grass...

I was sitting at my desk this afternoon with the curtains closed when something thudded really hard against the window. I looked out to see a little bird on the cement verandah. He’d been knocked senseless. I yelled at Vince to...

After posting the photo of bees in our birdbath, someone asked how much do bees drink. It seems bees drink their weight in water each day. Searching for and collecting water is one of the main duties of worker bees.
A...

It seems our two birdbaths have become ‘bee baths’. Now that the weather is warming up, the bees are coming to the birdbaths in their dozens. The baths are filled automatically by our reticulation system. However, the one at the...

I don’t usually post two discussions so close together but here is the breaking news as they say.
I haven’t seen a roo out the back for ages. I see plenty of birds at the birdbath but it seems this doe decided it was time to...

We saw a new-to-us bird at the birdbath the other day. It has visited a couple of times but flits in and out so quickly neither of us has a decent photo of it yet. This photo is heavily cropped so it’s a bit blurry. I had a lot of...

Today Vince was taking photos of little birds bathing in our birdbath. This is one of his efforts. It’s what we call a ‘silvereye’ because of the white ring around the eye. My mother was not fond of these little fellows as they...

I wrote about two red-capped parrots that visited the birdbath this morning. They were just settling in for a bath when this ring-necked parrot came homing in. It was a lucky shot to catch him at this moment.
The ring-neck...

Two red-capped parrots came to the birdbath this morning. Aren’t they colourful? We have stopped taking photos of some of the birds as they come so regularly. We don’t see these so often so we were scrambling around, grabbing...

My last post was mega-long so here’s a short one.
I was up at 6.46am. I like figures like that. I logged into myLot then noticed dozens of little birds all lining up for baths. Some were up for communal bathing but a little...

I have a birdbath right outside the office window where I have my computer. Any movement there attracts my eye immediately. This morning a bronzewing pigeon graced us with its presence. You can see by Vince’s photo how this pretty...
