Hey y'all!
I saw on another discussion it was being talked about how young you were when learning to cook. Most of my kiddos were around 12ish when they started learning or showing interest in cooking.
However, Julian...

I wrote about making prawn thingys with kafaiti pastry. There was a lot of the pastry left over so I made some ‘nests’ with some of it which you can see in the photo.
We had some with a prawn on top with our wine at night and...

Some time back we enjoyed prawns encased in kafaiti pastry. There’s a name for them that I’ll hopefully remember before I end this.
Kafaiti pastry comes frozen – well, ours did – so you have to let it thaw thoroughly. Then you...

We had to go shopping earlier as thinking that we were going to be away we had no food in.
As usual The Mister opted for steak.
So we had steak, chips, peas and peppercorn sauce.
I like my steak rare and The Mister certainly does...

Over the Christmas and New Year holidays we have done much grazing instead of eating proper meals.
We knew we would be at Moms for dinner today ….New Years Day …..and I bought a gammon joint for dinner.
However, I asked The Mister...

There is a common discussion about ow to use salt safely. Some argue that salt must be cooked with food; adding salt to cooked / ready food at the table is not right. But my question remains; why then is it commonly referred to as...

Due to the sufficient time I have on Sundays, I like to cook a mixture of maize and beans as my lunch. It takes 3-4 hour to cook the mixture to tenderness. I then drain all the water and wet fry the cooked mixture before adding...

I have filled my smallest crock pot with the ingredients for chili. All except chopped bell peppers and onions. I will do that in the morning.
It will cook on low all day, and I really look forward to some good eating tomorrow...

It's not really "dirty rice," at least not in the traditional sense, but whatever you might call in "real life," all I can say is that it's good eats, and in the end, whatever it might be named, that's really all that matters,...

Sometimes you read a post around here and it just reminds you of something. Take @jstory07 who told us about an appliance bulb she bought for her oven that melted the first time she cooked something in it.
"I am going to look for...

I have just realised that The Great British Bake Off finished last week.
I had been watching it every Tuesday evening and picked the correct person who eventually won it on the final last week.
For those lovely MyLotters who...

I’ve just been watching a cookery video and there was a debate about what to call the meal.
Basically it was chunks of lamb, carrots, leek and potatoes covered in stock and cooked in the oven.
So would you call that a stew …..or...

It started raining in the early morning hours and not the cozy light pitter patter that sounds peaceful to hear on the rood. We are talking sideways, bucket tossing and drum bearing drops that slap your windows like it's mad at...

So, last night I had the chopped tomatoes and onions layered up and sprinkled with salt. They had to stay like that overnight.
This afternoon I put the spiced pickling vinegar in a saucepan with the sugar , and heated. Then added...

The Christian thrift store in town sells books five for a dollar, and about once a week I find three to five that catch my eye. This week I found, "The Original Fannie Farmer 1896 Cook Book", from The Boston Cooking School. What...

I have never really been an individual who enjoys cooking. I cook so I don't go hungry and for survival. I wouldn't say I'm a bad cook per se but I am not the best. I have recently started trying to find ways to make cooking more...
