Copying from PC to DVD and playing on TV - and it doesn't work...HELP!!!

I am not sure I have the right category - but it is the closest I can find... I have A Sony Camcorder with mini DVD's that hold 30 minutes of video. I finally figured out how to download the videos from the camera to the PC...

i have a dvd of a movie and i am not able to copy it into my harddisk i tried writing with nero it says that the dvd is write protected.. and the movie is not playing in nero or vlc.. it is only playing in wmp... is there any way...
