Playing movies on my laptop

My son burned a data DVD disc with AVI format movies and it's not playing on my laptop. He used Nero burning ROM. He has Windows XP and I have Windows Vista. What do I need to play these movies? DCMerkle

which one is the best movie player software for you?

I'm using BSPlayer at home and it's really amazing.. You can control anything from your movie.. plays anything from any media.. and the best part is that memory consumption is very very low.. And you? what do you use at your home?...
