Earlier in the countdown of songs celebrating the moon I promised Sandra that there’d be a song that would encourage howling. Hey, what do you know, we’ve reached it! Here’s today’s moon song, which comes with...

Apparently we’re in a battle with Seattle for seeing who can be more drizzly and foggy. At least I can watch a sunny beach on You Tube. I can also brighten up your day with another song that has “the ballad of” in the title....

Oh, even Stevie Wonder saw this one coming. Tomorrow’s song might be a surprise, but I’m pretty sure that everyone had this pegged for showing up on the list of songs with “heart” in the title. To absolutely no one’s surprise,...

Hey there! Don’t know where I’m going, but I’m going! But first, here’s another one of those songs that has “Hey” in the title. Sorry to all you country music haters...but you knew this one was coming. And here it is.

I watched the Hank Williams biopic "I Saw The Light" starring Tom Hiddleston.
It came out in 2015, is rated R (due to mature subject matter) and runs about 2 hours. It is a pretty balanced portrait overall I think.
It explores...

After a long morning I’m ready for lunch, a nap, and a song. Not necessarily in that order. For the song, here’s another one of the greats on my list of favorites with “highway” in the title. Lunch is good, and the nap will...

I am a huge fan of Hank Williams, Sr. (I don't care as much for Jr. but that's a discussion for another day.)
I don't really think Hank Williams, Sr. was that great sounding per se.
His voice was far from velvety smooth,...

From the incredibly obscure country singers we move to one that everyone has heard of for the "fire" song in my dual countdowns of "burn" and "fire" songs. I didn't intend for both songs to be old country, because I know how much...

I have three eyes (I wear glasses) on the weather. I'm supposed to head to Knoxville after work today, but we'll see how that goes. I'll go ahead and list my next songwriter on my list of ten favorite country songwriters, an...

As I mentioned with yesterday's song, "The Ballad of Hank Williams," this was really a tie, so I had to flip a coin to see who'd go first in the list of my favorite songs about Hank Williams. In terms of "quality," I'd have to...

It's time for another song from the great, great, great Hank Williams. If you study anything about country music his name is going to come up within five paragraphs. (And if it doesn't, throw the book away.) Here's the...

The top two are tied in my countdown of my favorite songs about Hank Williams. I had to flip a coin to see which would come out on top, the serious, sad song, or the funny song. The funny song goes first.

There has never been a phenomenon in country music like Hank Williams. Revered in country music by countless performers (see my list of my favorite songs about Hank), even rockers have gotten in on the act. Today's song...

On this sad day in country music, where we mourn the death of the fourth Hall of Famer this year (Jean Shepard), it's always good to remember and be thankful that the music will be with us forever. That's also true of the...
