Why does my incense leave my skin smelling AWFUL?

I recently received some lovely stick incense from someone and I burned about half a stick last night. It smelled great and I very much enjoyed it. I discovered later, though, that my hands (just hands?? no soap will take it off)...

I bet that got your attention didn't it??? I'm not talking about that kind of tart, but about the solid wax tarts that you put in oil burners instead of oils and melt to release lovely fragrances in your home. I think Yankee Tarts...
