Well. Okay, so maybe I have gone a bit OTT with that , but I kid you not ….there are about a dozen little cauliflower shoots that have come through overnight.
I am so pleased.
Obviously nothing is guaranteed, they may not grow,...

So, I have posted that I am growing my own cress now….extremely easy and a tiny fraction of the price of that in the shops. Takes only days to grow and be ready for eating.
I took a punnet round to Moms the other day and the...

Just wondering ….
If you needed to , do you think that you could grow all the fruit and veggies that you would need to see you through a year ?
I think veggies would be easier but it could be done …
What veggies would you grow...

As I have been posting over the last few weeks, some may be aware that my cherry tomato plant have gone wild this year. We pick loads every day but simply can not keep up with how many are growing. We only have three plants too....

It’s that time of year when, after waiting eagerly for some fresh home-grown produce, we get overwhelmed, in this case with climbing beans and courgettes (zucchini). Last week was even worse because Little One and I were away (and...

A neighbour gave me three cherry tomato plants a couple of months ago …..I love all tomatoes but there is something about the small cherry ones that I really like. They are easy to snack on.
This year I have more flowers than e er...

My partner is especially fond of cherries. And neither of us is keen on mowing the grass (bear with me here!) So we tentatively decided a while ago that we would dig out some of the grass and plant a row of cherry trees...

I came across this idea a year or two ago. Instead of earthing up potato plants in the usual way, dragging earth up around them as they grow, I found the suggestion that they could be grown in hay instead, or in grass...

I have quite a productive vegetable patch and by early June it generally looks more like a jungle and I’m struggling to find any space to squeeze more things in. But at the moment it’s pretty empty – just some kale left from last...

I’m a keen gardener and have been tending my own garden and growing vegetables for quite some years now. But there is always something new to learn.
I picked up a handy little tip the other day from one of my favourite YouTube...

For a few decades now we (in Britain) have become used to being able to buy whatever foods we want any time of year. Forget the idea of eating parsnips and turnips in winter, peas and lettuce in summer, and looking forward to the...

The last few weeks have been so ridiculously mild that it was far more like September. I was lulled into a false sense of security. I picked the last few tomatoes in November! This is unheard of!
So I foolishly thought I didn’t...

Apart from an extensive nasturtium patch, the other thing we have a lot of at the moment is grapes. My partner’s parents gave us a seedless grapevine as a house-warming present when we moved here and it seems to like its home....

Autumn is here and the leaves are falling everywhere. The little road we live on has a lot of overhanging trees so of course that means lots of leaves on the ground.
Passing cars soon squash them into mush and that means a lot...

I first tried to grow sweetcorn a couple of years ago. I grew a few plants and they did OK, but my main problem was that I didn’t know when to harvest the cobs so I think I waited rather too long.
Last year was a bit better, but...
