The powers that be who are here temporarily until a real manager gets hired has finally hired someone to do the mowing. Hopefully permanently as we have only had the grounds mowed once this spring so far. It is a hayfield out...

My Japanese honeysuckle continues to grow each year. It started out as a small 8-inch plant on my back fence around 2007. Now it has covered the entire back section of my fence. So happy to see it flourish. It grows wild here in...

Took a walk earlier around the neighborhood. Two streets over a family just moved in. The wife was out walking their Great Dane.
Those dogs are huge. About as tall as I am. But at least they have a nice yard for him. And they...

Was out filling up the bird bath just now. Had my phone in my pocket. And I saw a baby rabbit hiding under the honeysuckle bush.
Snapped this photo as he froze. So cute to see the babies running all around in the garden.
I...

I wrote about the honeysuckle blooms earlier. @sallypup was asking if this was a bush or a shrub.
It started years ago as a small vine. About 6-7 inches long. Over time, it has surrounded the fence and the holly shrubs next to...

Was out in the yard earlier looking for new buds and blooms. We had a cold front come through last night. Many plants are budding and blooming late this year.
The Japanese honeysuckle bush has a few blooms. They are growing on my...

Noticed the first Japanese honeysuckle of 2021 today.
This bush grows bigger each year. The blooms hang over on both sides of the fence.
Hummingbirds and butterflies are always attracted to the sweet fragrance.
Another...

Some days I get bored and will edit a few photos. I have thousands to work with. It can be fun and interesting to try different programs.
This was my original photo of honeysuckle from my garden, edited with Prisma.

I wrote the other day about making a start on pulling out a dead creeper. I finished the job today and took the remains down the paddock to a heap of rubbish we have down there. I’ve put a ‘before and after’ photo, although the...

The photo shows our native hardenbergia (Hardenbergia violacea) which we planted to hide our large rainwater tank.
Top left shows it in its glory and covered in pale lilac flowers. In the bush, it is often a much deeper purple....

The honeysuckle in my backyard and fence is almost gone for the summer. But it will return in the spring.
A few more blooms left on the vine and then it will be gone. The hummingbirds were checking them out today.
Thankfully...

After a quick rain shower earlier I went out to check the blooms in the garden. The Japanese honeysuckle is still blooming.
This flower started out as a small vine on the fence and has now grown into a bush.
I love the...

Have been out in the yard all morning. The honeysuckle is growing so fast already. Had to cut it back a little. You can see in the photo, before I started trimming it back, it is reaching for the sky.
The hummingbirds have...

A couple of weeks ago I shared one of my Japanese honeysuckle blooms just starting to bloom in pink. Today I noticed the blooms are starting to fill out.
They are so pretty with the pink and yellow blooms. They start out solid...

The other day Adam noticed a wren eating the bugs on our honeysuckle. He slowly moved away from the window and grabbed his camera and managed to get this photo just as the wren was hopping up the honeysuckle towards the roof of...

This honeysuckle is an old native British variety which I can remember seeing and smelling in the garden of my childhood. We moved house in 1971 so Dad took cuttings and I can remember that smell through my teens and into my...

The honeysuckle continues to bloom in my garden. The bees, birds, hummingbirds and butterflies love this one. And I enjoy the fragrance. It will bloom through the end of summer.

I had another one of my 'must get in the garden' mornings this morning. I had breakfast and tried doing a bit of housework but I just couldn't get into it so by 9.45 I decided I'd cut the front lawn. I then noticed that the...
