So, it's been forever and a day since I've talked about the Tuesday Challenge. I guess part of that is, you can only say so much about it, and updates on balances can become boring...
And to some, maybe even obnoxious.
Yet, at...

Man, I haven't written about the Tuesday Challenge in ages. Does anyone even remember what it is? Did anyone ever actually do it? I know there were some who said they wanted to, but I wonder if anyone ever actually committed to...

No, I didn't order anything from Amazon. Well, not unless you count the Vitamin D and cat food that showed up recently—both courtesy of a $50 gift card from a source I won't name (lest the myLot vampires sniff it out and stake my...

The short answer is no. It is not. Sure, you can go by the idea that had you bought one ounce of gold in 1980, you'd have paid $600 for it, and now it's worth $4,000 or more.
Nice gain, right?
Not really when you keep in mind...

Sometimes when you play around with the stock market, you get curious and want to play the "what if" game. In many ways, especially at times when the stock market feels "slow," you need that added perspective to appreciate the...

Okay, so I have told you about the Tuesday Challenge, and I have updated several times on its progress since I started this about two years ago. But what is it for? I have never really been able to say exactly what I intended with...

Over the years, no one has been better at making a shareholder's meeting an event like Warren Buffet and Berkshire Hathaway has. I tend to think that once Buffet is gone, and he's 94 now, it will be the 'end of an era' and an end...

The Tuesday Challenge has evolved a bit since a year and a half ago or so when I first started doing it, and so far, I have accumulated $1,401 in my envelope. It's such a simple and fun way to save a little extra, which is...

Welcome to another wild and zany episode of how Porwest thinks about money. Hey, it may sometimes be a bit twisted, even at times borderline ridiculous, but I can also say, with absolute confidence that these are basic money...

I talk a lot about saving and investing your money, and the importance of it. But there's another aspect of it that I don't always express as much, although I have mentioned it more than once, and that's about the [i]power of...

This is not a brag, nor is this a scolding. What this is, is a harsh reality that I face not only here but in many other places.
I've managed to save a little bit of money. My wife and I have been fortunate. [i]By...

It's not even 730am as I write this, but last night some stock market futures were suggesting an 800 point run up on the 30-stock Dow Jones Industrial Average, and this morning in premarket trading, all areas of the market are...

One of the ways I go about my financial pursuits is of course through saving and investing. The key here is how I think about my money in terms of its real value.
Is $1 worth a dollar?
That seems like an odd question to...

I may be weird, and you can chastise me if you want. But my rich uncle Archie long ago taught me, "If you want things, use other people's money." Those were words that just stuck with me.
"Keep your money and invest it in...

I have not talked about it in a while, but I have not stopped doing it. That is, the Tuesday Challenge.
Basically, every Tuesday, whatever the date is on the calendar, you put that amount into an envelope. After about a year you...

The markets have been tumbling, and it looks like today they will tumble further. It's a panicked frenzy of selling based on investor sentiment that a recession may be coming, that the Fed may have made a mistake by keeping rates...

Well, that's just the way it goes and it happens over and over again. The stock market has taken some deep tumbles, with the worst day since 2022 on the S&P 500 happening on Friday and the Dow closing down over 600 points and...

Ford Motor Company is a stock I have owned for decades, and the one thing about it, that is sometimes annoying, is that it's just never been an exciting stock by any stretch of the imagination.
In all the years I have owned it,...
