Pure bred or mutt?

Some like the beauty and breeding of purebred. The distinction of a pedigree. Some like the idea of breeding their dogs and entering them in shows. Others feel mutts make the best pets. Great personalities, none of the diseases...

What is the best way to acquire a new pooch? I prefere pure, small bred due to living space. What is the most you would pay? Are there any pet stores where you can actually go look at a pet and make a decision?

What kind of Dogs do you have( if you do) I have a Corgi and a Silky Terrier/Shih tzu mix, they are both great Dogs. Do you prefer a purebred or a mix, does it matter?
