Nothing technical there. Just dig some pits in your property and let rainwater percolate in your own compound rather than let it flow to the sea - that simple.
No doubt there are more sophisticated ways where roof water is...

We used to have two large water tanks that we use to collect rainwater in our home. I remember that we use it primarily for drinking... of course we boil it first. We use rain water also for taking a bath.

Using rain water for household use has to be good for the environment and for it to be cleaner than city water is marvellous.
This couple in Portland catch 27,000 gallons a year. Amazing! and save a lot of money on thier meter...
