Sticks and stones may break my bones....

But words will never hurt me. I remember this saying when I was a child. Why did parents teach this? Especially as a child, words did hurt me. Words can hurt you worse then sticks and stones. Does anyone believe this as well?...

... will break my bones, but words will never hurt me! Have you found this to be true or can harsh comments, teasing and bullying get to you? I have experienced that things get to people faster if they are insecure about that...
