Ultram - is it a good pain medicine?

A friend of mine is taking Altram for Pain, his doctor said that it is better than vikodin. Has any one ever tried it before? I guess it doesn't upset the stomach either. Jbuddy

I recently had surgery and can no longer take my lortab. The doctor suggested I try tramadol. Has anyone had any success with it? If so, how much do you take and how often do you need it for pain?

I recently had surgery and am at the end of the Lortab narcotic. My doctor said that for pain I could now switch to Tramadol or Ultram brandname. Has anyone taken this and had success? If so, what is your dosage and how often...
