It mainly was established for the GOLD RUSH we had many years ago, DIGGERS as they were called, came from all over the World to find this GOLD that just lay-ed on the Ground. (These days the Australian Soldier is called a DIGGER) Many Chinese came to Bendigo, as the GOLD depleted the Chinese stayed on in Bendigo. I believe there could be up to or over 5 generations of Australian Chinese here now. As with many others the Chinese fitted in well, worked and lived and prospered in their new land.They (Chinese) play a very important part in Bendigo's landscape and History.
