Complete darkness is one of my biggest fears these days, and I always have a lantern or flashlight nearby.
At one time, I only slept in the dark and it didn't bother me at all, but now it feels as if I see shadowy things, hence...

As the days shorten and temperatures are moderate I am seeing and hearing lots of critters.
We have some cicadas this year, but they are nearly drowned out by the tree frogs. I am hearing more song birds.
Everywhere in the yard...

Sometimes you just don't expect certain things, and of course, they take you by surprise a little bit.
Like when you're dead heading your marigold plants and something moves that shouldn't.
I pulled back a bit, not knowing what...

Didn't do much today. No scary bugs today. I made Mexican Lasagna tonight...but the hamburger was not fresh. Wasn't BAD, but had that borderline taste between Fresh and Bad. Took a while to get the taste out of my mouth.
Tom...

Luckily, I have some triazicide in the garage I can mix up in my hand sprayer since already I have some wasps buzzing around in the typical areas they tend to want to start nesting, in and around my mailbox and around my main...

I tried to go out on the patio today like I did yesterday. But it's a bit warmer and these darn wasp's of some sort keep flying around. It seems they are attracted to the darn bushes that we have off our patio's and windows. I am...

Of course, by now you have probably read about my little encounter with yellow jackets after running over their nest with the lawn mower a few days ago.
I am fine, by the way. The worst part of the whole ordeal was back issues...

Oooh! I get so creeped out by ads for bug sprays with pictures of roaches and spiders. Oh, my! I just finished a survey that had picture after picture after picture of roaches, spiders, ants, stink bugs,...

While at Ryan's earlier, I got bit by something and figured it was just a mosquito. It was already way past dark and I couldn't see what bit me.
Buuuuut it has now swelled up about four times its normal size which generally...

Because it will rid us of most of the biting bugs that are still feasting on me when I go outside in the evening.
Did I post yesterday? I forgot to check. If I did, did I mention my pirate friend? His name is Josiah Cutler. The...

First time in a long time I got caught in a decent rain. I was on my street, so didn't have far to go to reach home. However, getting caught in the rain isn't what I'd call, fun. Since I use a gel cushion, I don't feel like I'm...

I got up on time, a little early actually, but with my husband home there always seems to be a lot more to do. I just now sat down with the laptop. And, am just getting to posting. Tomorrow is a run around day. Fun.

The Flatid Planthopper Nymph is the cutest bug I've seen, in pictures anyway.
I thought it looked like a little cotton ball, but most people call it a popcorn or snowflake bug.
I wish all bugs were this cute, and my fear of most...

Beginning every year with bug season for the past couple of years I have posted a picture of the different kinds of bites.
It helps to know the difference from one bite to another so that you can be aware if you develop symptoms...

To begin with, ladybugs are not really bugs. They are beetles known as Ladybird beetles by entomologists. The ones we know here in North America are the seven-spotted ladybugs with shiny red and black bodies. They actually come in...
