A friend of mine recently adopted a 1 year old German Shepherd. They told me that no-one locally had any shepheds available so they went to the shelter and found Trixie. I was wondering how many would consider adopting rather...

wyomugs If you simply wish to have a PET dog (not a "show" or working dog) then the shelter is my recommendation, hands down! Purebreds can have more inherited medical problems due to being "purebred." Mixed "shelter" dogs have fewer of these problems. There are...

blackbriar It depends on what your looking for, a show dog or one for a pet. A show dog I would buy from a distinguished breeder, for a pet, I would prefer to adopt from the shelter or a breed rescue group.

newzealtralian Buying from a breeder means you are getting a puppy that probably isn't very well trained, but that means you can train them the way you like. Getting one from an animal shelter, you might get a dog that is already trained, but then again, you might not. I...

shooie We got my dog sugar from a shelter and if we get anymore dogs after she is gone we will probably go back to the shelter and rescue another one. These are good animals that need someone to come and get them. Wasn't their choice to be there. I recommend people...

MsTickle All my donation dollars go to animal rescue schemes because animals dont have families to help them and they don't have incomes. They are alone if they are mistreated and /or abandoned. For this reason, I will ALWAYS visit a shelter or otherwise rescue an...

mymoneylot Well, i would rather get one from breeder. You could train the puppy and that way will make you feel they like your family. Actually i get my dog from breeder too. and i train him since puppy and we love him so much

profitsg I would rather adopt a pet from animal shelter than buying from a breeder for afew reasons. 1) A reputable and good animal shelter is less likely to cheat and lie to you about the pet's condition. They will more likely put a sick pet to sleep. 2) A good...
