Have you heard this? It contains a valuable insight into politics....

Memnon @Memnon (2170) 8 Dec 10

The Haircut One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked about his bill, and the barber replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.' The florist was pleased and...

Does this irritate you?

Memnon @Memnon (2170) 17 Nov 10

I was watching Law and Order: Special Victims Unit a few days ago, and noticed something that has often niggled me about US productions. At what I guess we in the UK would call a bail hearing, a judge set the accused bail of...

Should prisoners be allowed to vote?

Memnon @Memnon (2170) 1 Nov 10

In 2005 the European Court of Human Rights ruled that it was in breach of a prisoner's human rights to deny them the ability to vote. Now the government is reviewing UK legislation with a view to who will be allowed to...

Have, or would you, consider anything challenging for charity?

Memnon @Memnon (2170) 18 Oct 10

In February Julianne McGregor decided that she would try raising £3,000 for World Cancer Research, in September. Her inspiration was her friend Megan Houchins, who was diagnosed with thyroid cancer ten years ago, and for whom...

Would you vote for someone if this were in their manifesto?

Memnon @Memnon (2170) 17 Oct 10

How about this for a radical rethink on the Justice system? Let's put the seniors in jail and the criminals in a nursing home. This way the seniors would have access to showers, hobbies and walks. They'd...

Stag nights. More hindrance than horseplay?

Memnon @Memnon (2170) 15 Oct 10

Today my train was delayed by a guy, apparently naked, trespassing following his stag night. Not by much, but enough to make someone late for an interview. A fair few of these end with some guy adrift on a ferry or chained to...

Outdoor plaques.

Memnon @Memnon (2170) 15 Oct 10

Delivering a local free paper, we often encounter new plaques where people have moved home. House names (oft repeated in the same street): ferocious dog pictures entitled 'I live here' (no fingers in letterbox). recently I...

Do you like using self scan checkouts?

Memnon @Memnon (2170) 10 Oct 10

Tesco in the UK is to trialling a completely self scan store in Northampton. I think that these checkouts are handy if you only have a few items. I have noticed that they are prone to short delays if you have items that are age...

Two questions on Tony Blair...

Two questions. If Tony knew Gordon would be a disaster why did he let him succeed him? Did he really believe that we could topple Saddam, dissolve the Iraqi police and military, and expect the country to magically rebuild...

Woman in Coventry throws cat in bin. What would you have done with her?

Memnon @Memnon (2170) 28 Aug 10

Partial quote from the UK Daily mail... "The woman appears to be harmless as she strokes four-year-old cat, Lola, as it walks along a wall on a street in Coventry. The middle-aged stranger then grabs the cat by the scruff of...

Ian Huntley is to launch a claim regarding recent attack.

Memnon @Memnon (2170) 31 Jul 10

Most of us in the UK will be aware of him, but perhaps not so much abroad. He is the school caretaker convicted for the murder of schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in 2002. He was assaulted by another inmate in March who...

Do you think David Cameron was right to liken Gaza to a concentration camp?

Memnon @Memnon (2170) 28 Jul 10

I'm sure that some might think the wording flawed in light of it's impression on the Israeli psyche- but the use of camps was a major strategy of the Boer war in an effort to isolate Boer fighters from community support. With...

Should nurses be paid more than footballers.

Memnon @Memnon (2170) 18 Jul 10

UK Armed forces cuts.

Memnon @Memnon (2170) 12 Jul 10

Memnon @Memnon (2170) 10 Jul 10

If I go somewhere a few times people seem to notice me. There is nothing particularly distinctive about my build or the way I dress. I don't do anything outlandish such as do the grocery wearing my boxers or ride a great Dane to...
