I mean, REALLY, who thinks $250,000 is middle class? I just read that polls show that most Americans consider anything above $150,000/year to be "rich" and I tend to agree with that assessment. Sure, I know there are some places...

MntlWard I've seen a couple of responses saying something to the effect of "Well, a business making 250K a year has to pay some of that to employees and other business expenses." Businesses aren't taxed on every dollar that goes in the till. They're taxed on their...

At least until the next party starts lol. I find I can only cope with MyLot for a limited time, since I tend to create and enter into discussions with "heavy" subjects and hopefully a lot of intelligent responses. Unfortunately...

MntlWard Yeah, I've pretty much been on a break for years. I was very active when I started here, but I found the same issues you are describing and had enough after a few months of it. Now, I only come back when the myLot email shows me something I can't resist...

This item appeared on the 9MSN website in Austalia a little earler today. [b]A voter in the US state of Pennsylvania has filmed a polling machine that altered his vote for Barack Obama to a vote for Mitt Romney. The voter...

MntlWard This is one of many problems I have with electronic voting machines, especially the touch screen kind. I've more than a few times observed touch screen devices register my touch somewhere else on the screen.

I find this very disturbing. With the destruction from Sandy and the need of help, non-union utility workers are not allowed in New Jersey. The unions are wrong on this and they should relax their policy during this time of...

MntlWard I was just about to post the snopes article on this. I'm glad someone got the correction on the first page, as I wouldn't have made it. :-)

I have found myself the subject of organised downgrading by other members. How do I go about bringing this to the attention of the administration? Lash

MntlWard How do you know it's an organized effort? I know that a lot of people don't really understand what the + and - are for, so if they don't like what you say, they'll downgrade you. And if you go into the politics section saying something other than crazy right...

MntlWard I didn't say I was offended. I said I'm not sure that Republicans remember which political party was in power when the war in Afghanistan started. Yes, I stand corrected about Clint Eastwood's statement. I should have mentioned that in the last comment.

MntlWard The Clint Eastwood thing was an illustration of my point, not the point itself. The point is that all the Republicans in the room laughed at the Russia part, as if they were all a bunch of hippies who hadn't wanted to go to war with Afghanistan. "Some" say...

MntlWard There were Democrats at the RNC ridiculing Eastwood in the middle of his speech, so that made him suggest that President Obama should have asked Russia before starting a war in Afghanistan? And that's what made all those Republicans laugh at the idea of silly...

MntlWard Obama was for the war in Afghanistan. So was nearly every person in the room where Clint Eastwood said that. So why was that a punchline for the crowd? If this doesn't become the next manufactured scandal, I'll be surprised. It's being posted on all the big...

MntlWard Your article doesn't make a claim that rape is what makes a woman's body be choosy about what sperm it lets in. It just doesn't say what you said it says.

MntlWard Because hormonal birth control can prevent implantation of a fertilized egg, and under a personhood law that fertilized egg is a person granted all human rights, that law could very well create a ban on hormonal birth control.
