magilives Good luck with your plans to buy a house. I hope the prices come down for you when you are ready to buy. I don't think the prices here will go down much, they just seem to be going up and up.

Penguinsangel I am renting as well right now. We hope to be able to buy in a few years, prices around here just aren't low enough again to be able to buy.

magilives Yes you are in an unusual deal. I haven't ever thought of owning a house that is on rented land. At least you get some added benefits with the tennis courts etc. I too would need to get a bank loan to buy a house but at the moment the loan repayments would be...

magilives You are forgiven for posting twice. My old computer used to do strange things to me too. LOL.

Kitty scratching furniture

ctcagrrl @ctcagrrl (13) • United States 12 May 07

We adopted a kitty that was allowed to scratch the furniture. We can't break him of this habit and he's ruining our furniture! We have tall scratching posts in every room. When he scratches we bring him over to the towers and rub...

sjohnson628 I'm just wondering where is it you are suggesting this to be sprayed? I am hoping not on the cat but onto the furniture? Am I correct?

ctcagrrl There is absolutely no way that we'd spray anything other than water on our baby and even that's beginning to bother us as obviously it's not working. I'm happy that it worked for you, but we just wouldn't feel okay with him having to taste that and to...

sjohnson628 Wow That's not good. Furniture can be very costly to replace especially if he is scratching on more than one piece. I would highly recommend getting the product you are contemplating because you may only need to buy it once and he will be cured of this...

ctcagrrl From what I've read it takes a few months so it's an investment for the most part. But, you're right about furniture being very costly to replace to it'll be a good investment! Thanks for your response!

ctcagrrl Yes, we've tried the catnip, but it hasn't worked either - on the scratching post that is. He loves it in his toys and asks us for his catnip toys and knows what it means when we ask him do you want to get high? We were going to trim his nails, but they're...

ctcagrrl Thanks so much! I've looked at them also and that might be what it comes down to. We'll have to have his nails cut by the vet prior to applying them, but we just can't take the furniture clawing any longer. Thanks again!

allie4712 If it is an inside cat it should be declawed other wise it will tear up everything in the house but it is an outside cat then that's the worst thing you can do it.

vmoore709 My cat is declawed, but only the front claws. He still has the back ones in case he ever gets out. Those are the ones they defend themselves with.
