Once a common way to discipline children, it has become criticized by many people. I am talking about a spanking, not a beating. A swift swat on the hindside to punish bad behavior. It's obvious that time outs and other forms of...

Ruby Hawk Absolutely not. A spanking can be necessary for a-child who is unruly. It’s necessary to teach a child right from wrong. An undisciplined child is headed for trouble.

Four Walls No, a spanking is not child abuse. NOT disciplining a child IS child abuse, on the other hand.

rebelann1949 I think it is and I wish the government would get out of the bidness of interfering with parents who merely spank (not beat) their kids to get them to mind. I was brought up with that kind of discipline and I know that my generation was less likely to have...

Have you ever protested war or anything? Have you stood in a line with others or marched or sat in front of something to make a statement about something you believe in? I used to protest ...but always in a non-violent...

BarBaraPrz I think those generals who want to wage war should just get out there in a muddy field and do hand to hand combat, naked, with their enemies and leave the rest of us out of it. Then whoever "wins" should be heavily medicated.

Just curious what responses would be from people on this forum. I'm not looking for an anti-spanking lecture, as I've heard it all before. I am just curious whether I'm the only one left in the world who thinks a bare-butt...

Toofancy We did not get bare butt spankings when I was growing up, and I never gave them to my kids when they were still "spankable". My mother would switch our legs with a switch that she would make us pick off of a certain bush in our yard. This switch would cause...

Polly1 My son is grown now but I have the grandkids. I will sometimes give a bare butt spanking, if its needed. I don't believe in beating a child but sometimes an old fashioned spanking does wonders.

MysticTomatoes Amen! I fully plan on disciplining my child(ren) when they get old enough in this fashion. It all goes with the way of thinking that teachers should be banned from using red pens as it angers and damages the children seeing the red marks on their papers. No...

Okay, it is wrong to slap or hit your children, which might cause them traumatic experience later on in their life. It is also illegal to do so according to state laws. But some children deserve a few spanks before they understand...
