medooley Could you do me a favor and please show me in the tax code how that would be a deduction? I think that it might be classifed more as a gift than anything. I could be wrong... but I don't have a house in Oelwein so I guess it really doesn't matter much...

brokentia It is a tax deduction for the ricj person that gives you a free house. It could be considered charity! :) I'll take it and write the person a receipt for "Tia's Charity House of a Bunch of Kids". LOL

imadriscoll That's what I thought, that it was a tax deduction for the person who gives the house. Really, if you give me a house ... a four bedroom house with a formal dining room and a large backyard ... I don't care about getting any tax deductions for myself!
