why do people hate talking about religion?

when i talk to people i feel they avoid tackling the issue of religion and try to be more simple and funny. is it because people are not religious/ or because they feel it is something between them and their god? i just am not...

i am a father of two teenagers. when it comes to general behaviour, they usually do not listen. they think their mom and me are their enemies. in the course of buying, they choose what they think suit them and in the ned it ends...
