mescue How is there no harm intended when being asked if you are a 'mixed breed'? Are you a dog? I have worked for an animal hospital and mixed breeds are typically dogs who are mutts. I am not a mutt nor am I a mixed breed. I am a human who is of mixed heritage.

mescue So you get the "YOU don't speak Spanish" also?! I have people walk up to me and just start talking in Spanish. I usually let them fish and explain as best as I can, I don't speak Spanish..sorry.

mescue I don't remember asking my mom what color I was. I asked why I was not white. I did not ask her because she treated me differently, I asked because I was treated differently by strangers (children and adults). I was just a kid, I only knew myself as a human....

It really irritates me that no one knows how to count back change any more. I don't often have cash on me but when I do use cash I expect the person ringing up my order to know basic math. To me counting back change is basic math....

mescue I do agree that it should be counted back. I worked in retail before and I always counted back. Sometimes a mistake can be made...giving back too many ones or less than what is correct. I did it to insure that my drawer never had shortages or overages. But...

mescue My mom has a hard head so I guess she assumed I did as well. It hurt when she would brush my hair! I actually like my hair short. When I do try to grow it out, it just goes up in a pony tail and eventually I will get bored and get it cut again!

mescue Thanks. We talk to her all day long. I am a stay at home mom. We are just now getting involved in play groups so I'm also hoping that more interaction with children her own age will help.

mescue She plays normally and is a very healthy child. She's been late to do pretty much everything so I guess I'll follow doctor recommendations and start her in speech therapy but also just give her more time. Thanks!
