In this sophisticated technology era we almost rely on technology, knowledge and logic in our life. So does with our own health. We try to maintain the health with vitamins, pills, just like the doctors and the nutritionist suggest. But I also see the there are some facts that people still using alternative ways to get healthy. Usually they do it after they visit the doctors and still sick and don't know what's the disease inside their body. And amazingly, sometimes the traditional doctors / medicine men can cure the disease without using chemical medicine and injection. They maybe only give you water to drink, massage, herbs, some spells and they also get well. Do you agree with alternative cure in this era? Or you ever done it before? Are there any negative effect to your next health? Or you still believe in modern medication than the traditional ones? If me, maybe I still believe with medicine men, I admit there some poeple get their talent to cure somebody, but I'm avoiding myself to be cured by the mantra spell, sounds that my soul have been gone at that time (sounds like self sacrifices). I don't mind if using herbs or massage (although I also don't like that way, because no guarantee that the medicine men can really do, and no certificate -lol-).

truely to say,my grandfather is of a kind which you ask..There are some who are great and even some medical doctors go to them for help and from then they try to prove the medicine scientifically. the only disadvantage is they can not guarantee you. most of them i know are spiritual and they prescribe their medicine according to the commands of the spirits.

We really don't go to either. I know a lot myself about herbs and vitamins, so my family rarely needs to go to a doctor. We've got health insurance, so if we get real sick we go to a regular doctor. We do have a hard time finding a doctor that believes in our choices to not using vaccines and we don't like to take antibiotics. Many times the body can heal itself. My 85 year old grandpa believes in that too, he isn't on any prescriptions and seriously looks like he's 60!

I believe in using all the tools available to you to become healthy, including both "modern medicine" and "traditional medicine". I learned a lot of uses for herbs from my great-grandmother as a child, and "healing energy techniques" from my great-grandfather and some of his family. I completely believe that if I did not use spiritual energy to help myself physically, I would not be alive. There are a ton of things that are wrong with me physically, that I have had from birth, and while "traditional medicine" hasn't healed me, it has caused me to feel better, be able to do more, and live longer. However, people who only use traditional medicine techniques, especially in regards to the health of their children, make me very angry. If you are trying one technique, and it isn't working, then do something else! And if your child is ill, take them to the doctor first because it could very well be something life-threatening, and you don't fool around with those things! For the most part, I think of traditional medicine as a secondary effort, in addition to what the doctor is doing, not in place of it. So tonight I'm going to do a "clear lungs" meditation and tomorrow I'll be off to have a medical pulmonary function test. See how that works? =p

Your example about people who trying some technique for children is right, we should not try that. At least if we have other alternatives way we supposed to do emergency action first for kids.

well, if u ask me, i would say that if the problem is really critical and the patient is either a child or an old person then one should take it to the doctor otherwise one can deal with other situations at home only. at our place we rarely visit doctors. our gramdmom and my parents have good knowledge overt certain things to cure in home so i believe in them and if the situation is really bad or severe, then doctors are always there.

We usually call these people albularyo in the Philippines. My mom is a nurse but she believes in what an albularyo can do to ease a certain pain or to cure a sickness. Last year, my two kids got severe cough. I went to their pediatrician for cure and medicine. After giving my kids strong antibiotics the cough won't just go away. So my mom recommended that we go see an albularyo. Well, I said, there's no harm in doing so. My husband agreed so we went and look for the famous albularyo in our place. After looking at my kids and touching their backs she then said that they have pilay I don't exactly know the English term for that. She then said prayers then paste a square paper on their backs and chests. Well, I don't thick it's just a coincidence but after two days my kids were free from the cough they had. Amazing.

A person who hates you can let one of them work you out and you can only and only see another traditional doctor who might be stronger than the one who put the spell on you or he himself does it. some too are not reliable because if you don't pay more, he doesn't give you good medications.

I prefer the herbal medicines more because they do not have side-effects like the allopathic medicines. But the thing about herbal medicines is that you need to know the right people for them to be effective. Herbal medicines have long term benifits and they concentrate totally uprooting the cause of the disease preventing it from re-occuring but they do take some time to give results so when we need quick relief, we have to depend on allopathy.

I don't think that using spells or chants to get well is a good idea. But I also don't think that people should take all the pills that are being passed out by doctors I think that is why some people are sick/ I have relatives that practice alternative medicine and I do also just not the spells and chants part. You can be healthy thru a healthy diet and thru a good exercise program, and by paying attention to what your body tells you. If you know when your body is not acting right, you can use a combination of going to a medical doctor and treating yourself thru alternative medicines, And yes there are some medicine men and women who really do know how to treat illnesses with herbs, and it does work. But it is wise to make sure that what they give you is not something that your body will react to, or will interfer with any prescriptions you may have, It is best to stay as healthy as you can because when you get sick it is just not good and it can be hard to get well no matter what type of medicine you use,

I am more confident if I go to a certified and licensed doctor to consult anything about my health. Health for me is very important so I don't entrust it to just anybody. But I do try other alternative healing methods like acupunture and herbal medicines but I make sure that the one giving performing the acupunture or giving me the herbal medicines really knows what he/she is doing. However, there are some people who so poor that they don't have enough money to pay for a real doctor so they make do with "quack doctors". Others are just superstitious lots who would rather believe miracle doctors than real medical doctors.

While I believe some of the alternative medicines might work to an extent,I still prefer the allopathic medicines.I have seen some of the other forms of medicines work.Like my dad had a pain in his toe and went to several doctors with the pain. They prescribed him different painkillers and some exercises , but that was a temporary remedy and the pain would always come back. Finally,he visited a person who practices ayurveda in our country and with his oil ,he has been greatly relieved and the pain comes back very infrequently.Although,I do believe in some of them,I don't have enough confidence to know which one does or doesn't work. So,I try sticking with allopathy.

I do not believe in mantra spells as you called it, i also do not believe that easily in magic, although sometimes i wished that i did. But i can tell you that i do believe in natural and alternative treatment for the healing of the body and mind then with regular conventional medicine. I know that my first experience with the conventional medicine started when i was five years old and very sick, i was treated for a long time with every anti biotic that the doctors found, and was the Ginnie pig, for every new experiment. All of those treatments did not help me, my situation became worse, and my immune system became very very weak, only then my father decided to do a step in which my mother did not approve, he decided to take me off all of the medicine and take the risk. well he did, and everything was solved in a short time, he can never forget that. and i do believe that our body has his natural ability most of the time to get better, and get rid of the disease. I also believe that our body copes with natural medicine better, because they are more similar to the natural things that are produced in our body, then the chemicals that gives our body a shock. So i do believe in the body, after that i believe in the natural medicine.

Why not, India has a great sources of this traditional medicine renderer's. I once used this when i had asthma and i was very much cured from the allergies of asthma. I had a bit of side effects cause of that medicine but still i am not worried about that. I did put up some extra pounds but i am relieved of this long lasting allergies. My grand mother she is 90 now and she is huge adviser when ever some one falls sick and can't see the doctor she suggests some good alternatives. Kerala in south India is the best place for alternative medicine cause the climate there helps in tandem with the medicine.

i believe in alternative medicine and also traditional medicines.. althought scientist can't prove the effectiveness of the medicines, yet still many got cured after eating those medicines.. i believe there are always something explainable in this world.. so.. we don't ask why.. we just need to know which is effective to us.. and we'll just follow... because of such beliefs.. many got cheated also.. i understand why you're avoiding yourself to get cured by the mantra spell... first, it's a waste of money if it's not effective.. second, you don't know the side effect of such treatment.. right? :) .. you can do some research from masters before undergo such treatment

The chiropractor that I was seeing believes in natural healing and does not believe in medication. He did all sorts of adjustments on me and for a little while it worked but now it is not working so I am thinking that a combination medication and natural healing is probably the best bet in getting healthy and staying healthy. I would like to avoid medication if possible but if it is necessary I will go with the one that believes in medication and natural treatment. Technology is not always reliable.

ive been using alternative, herbal treatments for the past few months, and i love it. i was on prescription meds for many years, but my problems never seemed to go away. it was always as if the meds were just covering up the symptoms for a bit of time. i went to an acupuncturist in january who started me on some herbal meds. since then, ive completely done away with other medicines except for excedrin migraine which i need because i get terrible migraines. but anyway, i have a lot of hormone problems, and the herbal meds have really helped with that. i feel and look a lot healthier. they really do work, and i recommend everyone out there to try. i mean, all these prescription and over-the-counter meds have so much artificial crap in them. herbal meds are natural and much healthier in the long run.

The are many types of medical "practitioners" and of course we should be very thankful for and respectful of modern state of the art practice. Nevertheless, there are so many accounts of miraculous healings done in the name of Jesus that cannot be explained by doctors. I have directly witnessed one myself. Modern medicine must be forced to acknowledge the healing power of prayer made in the name of Jesus, and hence it's limitations. It annoys me when doctors who clearly know the case history of patients try to explain away obvious healings by saying the X-ray machines, even up to three times, are faulty, or some rot like that. As for other "faith healers" operating away from the name of Jesus, such as witchdoctors etc, their practices are either fake or demonic in nature.

Pharmacology itself is very empirical and a Doctor's diagnosis may be subjective. Nevertheless, I still prefer to go and see a Doctor instead of opting for more traditional routes. There a weekly radio cast here by a lady who practices natural therapy. People call her, describe their problem, and she will recommend some calcium pills or some other pills containing some shark oil...For now, I am doubtful when in comes to this type of medicine, but that is only me. Interesting topic.
