I would like to learn more about Wicca and Witchcraft. My daughter is into this and I would like to learn more about it so I have a better understanding of what she is doing. Problem is, I don't know where to begin or what to do. Can anyone give me some good suggestions on where to start? I am open to all suggestions and knowledge. Thanks in advance for your help.

I think a great place to start would be the OCRT (Ontario Consultants for Religious Tolerance)...here is a link to their Wicca/Witchcraft page http://www.religioustolerance.org/witchcra.htm and also just asking ppl in here even would be helpful...I'm sure some of us would have no prob answering questions you might have, just remember that we dont all follow the same exact path, thats all...

I included a website in my post which is really easy to navigate. It will help you learn about it and all the things you need to know to get started. Good luck to you and your daughter: http://www.wiccanglade.com/wiwiin.html

www.witchvox.com is a great site to learn all you can. she has picked a very good religion to belong to and will have many years to advance her belief. may the Godess look after you both. Blessed Be.

If you don't mind spending a little to get a book, The Truth About Witchcraft Today - Scott Cunningham is a good place to start. It is easier to digest for someone from another religion, without going too much into more challenging topics. Hope that helps, feel free to PM me if you have more personal questions :)

i second the vote for witchvox, which is a huge pagan community. i also suggest reading up on it at bookstores or the library, but stay away from two things: 1.) silly spell books; these are fluffy and nonsensical most of the time and can make witches look like a bunch of idiots. 2.) books by silver ravenwolf, who has been found to be factually incorrect many times and is not taken very seriously anymore by the pagan community; 3.) books written by christians about the 'evils' of wicca and witchcraft; they are not evil, though they have provided fuel for the fundamentalists against anyone who is not of their religion; these books are just senseless propaganda. most of all, ask your daughter! she's learning about it, so let her tell you her views. open up the channel of communacation that way; learn about it together.

I second Witchvox. It's a great tool to meet those near you. I also recommend all of Scott Cunningham's work. I know you posted two years ago, but I'm new so thought I'd drop a note. I also like a book about Wicca by Jennifer Hunter called 21st Century Wicca. It's designed for younger readers but is very nice. Patricia Telesco also has a book called Your Book of Shadows that is really wonderful. It's not Wiccan per se but it's a nice reference for starting your own book. Namaste-Anora

The best book I can recommend for this is When Someone you love is Wiccan by: Carl McColman A Guide to Witchcraft and Paganism for Concerned Friends, Nervous Parents, and Curious CoWorkers This book is fantastic and you can find it in your bookstore for around 10.00 or you can get it off of Amazon.com for cheaper. This book goes into great detail and answers most questions you may have.

This discussion is five years old, and I am sure you found what you were looking for. I just wanted to say that it makes me happy to see that you want to know what your daughter is getting into before jumping into conclusions. We are not devil worshipers, and witchcraft is a good way to live your life.
