The deer herds are returning.

This morning, there were 7 good-sized deer in the back yard about 100 feet from the house. I am glad to see the deer herds coming back. We had a lot of construction in the area for awhile and the deer herds quit coming through. When we first moved here, we noticed a pattern that they follow. The construction disturbed that pattern. This one of the nice things about living out in the country. Do you have wild animals in your back yard??

We don't have any elk around here that I know of. I like the rabbits though.

The place where I am living now is in the middle of a small town, so there is no question of wild animals to be around, but about 7to 8 years back when we used to live in "Guwahati" our house was near a hill and many animals used to come there time to time, specially the elephants and pecocks and I used to enjoy watching them a lot.

I would like to see elephants and peacocks but not in my yard!! That would be just a little too close for comfort.

It's really nice to live in the country, province for us here in the Philippines. However, we do not have deers in our backyards or near houses. They are wild deers and live in the mountains. Nowadays, because of hunting, only few deers do exist and hunting is now prohibited.

That is sad that you do not get to see deer a lot because they are up in the mountains. We have so many deer around here and sometimes they get hit by cars. I like to see the ones in my yard or at the neighbor's pond.

We have them all around us but I have not seen them in our yard. We have a dog in the yard and another that goes out from time to time. The nieghbors n either side of us also have dogs, so they kind of keep them away. I have seen them across the road though and all around us.
We have also had a few get hit in the little town where have scouts. In town! There have also been a few bears in town too!

There was a bear near here last year that killed a child and injured the mother and I think the other child was also injured. It was really a scary time here. We almost canceled our area camping trip because of all the parents being afraid of the bears. We did have it after all, but this year we are not having one.
I have seen deer almost daily on trips I have taken, but they do not come to close to our house. I have seen them in the woods across the road, but they always stay on that side and do not dare to cross to our side. I take my camera with me everywhere, but by the time it gets on the deer are always too far to photograph them.

I do not think I would like bears in town. We had a buck and four doe's at the next door neighbor's pond yesterday morning. I was leaving for work. I stepped out the back door and looked over there cause I saw a motion of something. There they stood in the dawn's early light. It would have made a wonderful picture but I could not find my camera fast enough and I had to get to work. I hate work. It gets in the way of living life.

How lovely for you. That would be something worth seeing. The day after I moved out here I was sitting on the front verandah and two kangaroos hopped across the road from the lagoon. I often see them down the back in the vacant block behind me, down the road and across in another paddock. The dogs think it's great fun to give chase but the roos can cover an awful lot of ground in a very short time. They jump fences and dart in and out of the shrubs.
The lagoon is across the road and the other side of a paddock, several hundred metres away but I often see spoonbills there and the occasional pelican coming in to land. . It's not unusual to see emus, snakes and goannas on a drive to town and I've even seen a brolga...a tall graceful bird that dances, and also a wedge tailed eagle. He was immense.

We have deer that roam through down town !! LOL I live in a town that was once the milk capital of the world. It is not a large town and I live on the outskirts heading towards Wisconsin. There is a lot of farmland and wild animals still around. The farmers have to watch out for the coyotes, we saw one crossing the street in front of us just two nights ago. I actually hit a wild turkey once with my car, didn't even realize what it was until I got home and saw the feather. Then I thought, I should have stopped & found it for dinner !! LOL

I hit a pheasant once and put 3 holes in the radiator. My husband was upset because I did not bring the bird home for dinner. lol
