....and how did you end up there? I have always lived in Southeastern PA and have never really thought much about it, but now faced with the fact that I'm moving this summer, I just started to wonder how you all got where you are? Did you move for a job, for love or just for a fresh start?

I got here, in northeastern PA, because...I was born here. The town I grew up in is 9 miles from where I am now. After I got married my ex-hubby and I moved into a house just over but within sight of the county border. We lived there for a year then moved to his hometown which is 11 miles from mine. Then when we separated a few years later I moved here. My s/o wants me to move down to where he lives, which is only 14 miles from here (in the summer anyway. In the winter it's closer to 20 miles because some of the short cuts can't be driven on in the winter). Sometimes I think it would be nice to leave and go somewhere else for a fresh start but I have too much keeping me here. My s/o got here partly because this is where his dad grew up and partly just by chance. He was born in New Mexico, where his mom's family was and where his parents met while his dad was stationed there. After that they moved all over... California, Virginia, New Jersey, Germany, Alaska...he graduated high school in Alaska and then went to college in Colorado. I don't think he planned to come back here since he never really lived here. Things with college didn't go as planned and he ran out of money before he could finish. He came back here to get a new start. He was about to join the Army himself when his then girlfriend found out she was pregnant. He didn't want to leave them but he also didn't want his child to grow up like he did so...he stayed. We never would have met otherwise.

Right now I live in Mercer,PA. We just moved here in August. I had lived my entire life in a little town in Michigan We moved so visitation with my step-daughter would be easier. The week beore we were moving her mother was put into a detox and we were given custody. So we could have stayed in Michigan but we had already sold our home on a land contract to my brother. In June we are moving to Ohio to be closer to our Church. Hopefully someday back to Michigan.

Wow, that's unfortunate timing...sorry to hear that. I had an incident with timing like that. I left a job I had for 20 years because of the director. She quit 5 months after I left :(

When I was in my early twenties, my parents moved to Texas for my father's work. I stayed in Indiana where we had lived all of my life. I waited to see what they would do. As a kid, we moved every three to five years (always in a 35 mi radius). After six years my parents bought a house in Texas and both of my younger sisters got married. So I gave up and moved to Texas too. I didn't want to live with my parents so I moved in with a friend of mine that had moved to Fort Worth. My friend introduced me to my husband. We've been married nineteen years. Last year, my parents and both sisters moved back to Indiana. So I'm back to where I started. But my husband says to forget it - he's not moving. :)

Wow! Every 3-5 years is a lot of moving....and I'm sure Texas is very different from Indiana!

It was a lot of moving. I ended up graduating from the same school system that I started in. And I left after the third grade! LOL. And Texas is extremely different from Indiana. There are things that I like about both places.

Ok, grew up in Columbus, Ohio which is my state. Married and worked and then transferred up north. We like snow and knew we could enjoy it more that way. Well I worked until we began to have kids and then we finally found this property online and bought it and built a solar and wind powered home. An unzoned area it was perfect for us to buy the acreage. We think that it is where we will be til we meet our maker. Our fresh start was and job move also.

For 36 years I lived in NE PA, and my husband lived there for 47 years. A little over a year ago we moved here to N.Carolina, not a move that we ever thought we would make, we figured we would live our whole lives in PA. But my husband ended up having to transfer with his job, it was either that or no job, and after 20 years, you don't just throw away a job like his. It isn't easy moving, there is a lot of things involved, but the hardest thing is emotionally, missing loved ones and home, and transitioning into a new place and new people.

i had lived with my parents in the province for 24 years. i studied there and for a year or so, i also worked there. living in the province is really very easy. there's no traffic, lesser crime, and lower cost of living. but then i realized, despite all these, the pay and wages there were also for provincial rates. there is also fewer chances of a good job. thats why i ended up here in the capital city which manila philippines. i found a good job and i like living here even if there's always chances of heavy traffic, muggers, and higher cost of living.
