eating soup

Soup and Crackers - soup and crackers, a classic combination? do you like to load your soup bowl with crackers till you have one big mushy heap or do you like to sprinkle a few on top of the soup as you go along?

What do you like to eat with your soup? do you like to put crackers in it? what kind of crackers? or do you like to eat buttered bread? perhaps you like to dip a sandwich in your soup?My husband loves saltines in his soup....only, he crushes up a LOT of them and puts them in all at once. He ends up with such a soggy mess. It personally turns my stomach and I sometimes fret that he does not know what my soups taste like because he loads so many soggy mushy crackers into it. If I am going to use crackers I like either whole wheat crackers or oyster crackers - a few at a time so they are still crisp. I do like a nice crispy hard bread like Baguette, to sop up the last bits of stew or soup. If it is tomato soup we are served I think there is a happy marriage of dipping grilled cheese in it. If we are having chili I like to serve it with frito corn chips. or if I do not have any of them tortilla chips are good too. (and of course cornbread on the side:) )

I usually have tomato soup, it is light and tastety,i would like to add roasted bread to my soup which adds crispy taste to my soup.In hotels i always have masala papad with soup, which adds additional taste,if it is a chicken soup i only add chilly sauce, viniger to make it more tasty.

I love soup, and it's a great way to increase your intake of vegetables. Usually I have a few slices of bread with my soup, or a couple of freshly baked and buttered rolls. I like to have croutons sometimes, or, this is a bit weird but nice!, get a slice of bread, remove the crusts and roll the bread really tightly so it goes into a sort of doughy elongated shape and tear bits off into little balls... very nice :)

I like croutons in some soups. Mostly bean soups -- I just made a big pot of split pea and ate that with croutons. I do really super easy cheat croutons, though. Slice a few pieces of sandwich bread into cubes, spray with PAM, and season with salt and pepper. Run through a 375* oven, turning every 5 minutes, until they are crispy. Toss with finely chopped fresh herbs, if you've got them, or just toss into soup or salad. For chili, I do that thing you hate. With cornbread. I actually put cornbread in the bowl, spoon chili over, and then squirt a lot of ketchup on top. All my fellow texans groan and wince at me, lol! And I must have a croissant or grilled cheese with my tomato soup, something crispy and buttery. I just dip it in lightly and eat it.

If it's something chunky and hearty and it's going to fill me up then I like a slice of buttered toast on the side. If it's something a little lighter like tomato soup prefer to have a grilled cheese sandwich with it.
