It is that time of the year when Awards and Recognitions are presented. This year our troop has acquired many. My co-leader received her 15-year pin. I received the Outstanding Volunteer pin. Three of our scouts will receive their 10-year pins. Two scouts have been accepted into the National Honor Society at their school. Several scouts are on the Honor Roll at their schools. Five scouts are bridging from Cadettes to Senior scouting level. We have a guest speaker from the Army National Guard scheduled to visit our troop meeting. She will be helping to prepare the troop to retire flags on June 14th. (Flag Day) There are a lot of parades that we will participate in also. Our troop is planning many activities for the summer months. We have a few troops in our area that take the summer off. Our troop is not one of them. We stay busy all year long. Please share your troops achievements and activities. Does your troop stay active during the summer?

Oh my, We have 4 who earned their Bronze award this year. There are 2 with perfect attendance. One that will get a certificate for most improved behavior.I should get my 5 year pin. My assistant went to work nights and is no longer able to help me out, but it is her first year and I will do something special for her. I have 3 I think that are bridging to Cadettes, and 2 of the Cadettes will be bridging to Seniors to form our towns only Sr Troop. I will keep my Jr.s and be co-leader of the Cadettes and assistant leader to the Sr. So I will be involved in 3 troops!! I am not sure if it will be too much, but as I am not getting the bridging Brownies, I should be okay. Al of the girls are from last year and they all know what to expect, and so do I except for the little things that come up. We take a break from weekly meetings, but we still have some trips, and events to do. We will be going Horse back riding, and a bonfire. We are going to have a Skating night at the local rink. we are going to The Calk it Up event in Chattanooga in June. We get to color the sidewalks with pictures. Each team will get a 7x7 foot square of sidewalk to do their art. We can even enter in a contest, but we are really just there for the fun. There will be bouncy houses, food carnival games, lots of entertainment. If they have Scout Day at the local Ball park like they did last year we will do that also. We are planning a Games night lock-in so everyone can bring their favorite games and we will all get to share them. We will be busy, just not meeting on a regular basis. Of course we also have to get ready for the annual carnival that we have to introduce the new members to ourselves. We will do some kind of a game of luck, and set up that lemon-aid stand!

Congratulations to your girls who have earned their Bronze Awards. They really have to work for that one. It sure sounds like your troop will be busy this summer but it also sounds like a lot of fun. Working with 3 troops?? Be careful you don't stretch your self out too thin there. Take good care of your health so you can have fun with the girls. Have a good time at the carnival!

I will not have any more girls. I will just be splitting them up. I will lead the Jr we will both do the Cadettes, and she will do the Seniors. I don't think it will be that much different, and having 2 less in the Jrs will help some there. I also heard today that I got the only award for outstanding Leader in our Area. I am happy about it. The only thing I hate is I have to act surprised because my friend did not know if they wanted me to know. So Shhh I don't know a thing!LOL
