i don't shampoo everyday. i do it every other day because my hair dries out when i wash it with shampoo everyday. i tried changing my shampoo but it's still the same. is it bad if you don't shampoo everyday? do you shampoo everyday? and some people say that when you shampoo everyday, you are more prone to hair loss. is it true?

There is nothing wrong with washing hair everyday. you can shower with out washing your hair. Yes it is true that washing your hair everyday strips it of its natural oils. It also depends on your hair type. If your hair is naturaly oily then you need to wash it everyday cause if you only wash it 2 times a week its going to be all stringy and nasty. You dont have to wash it everyday but its not going to hurt you if you do. I wash mine everyday.

yeah it depends on your hair type. fortunately mine is not the super oily type so dirt don't stick too much and make my hair stringy and unmanageable. i do shower without shampooing and my hair doesn't smell bad.

yea they say if you shampoo every day your hair will become very dry, but for some reason i just feel like i have to shampoo everyday so i just put some vitamin e grease in my hair at night before i go to sleep to give it that silky texture

oh yeah right, vitamin e. my mom used to buy those small capsules with oil in it and you just apply it to your hair. it really makes the hair smooth and silky. and it smells good too.

Generally one should wash the hair not too often, depending on the condition of the hair, every day is not really good for any hair, specially when that means styling every day as well. Sure one must wash out harmful things like salt, sand, or pool chemicals even more then once a day sometimes - with as little shampoo as possible. And yes, too much washing can even cause hairloss for some reasons like irritating the scalp, drying to much, or tearing out the hair more when it is wet. This, specially the last applies more to older persons, but much more often when the hair was mistreated most time of life before. So it is perfectly reasonable NOT to wash it every day, it does rarely get so dirty that that would be necessary. Also, when you dry your scalp too much,it reacts in producing more oil. Dry lenghts and tips can if possible be spared wasing when you must inbetween wash only the scalp, more or less; otherwise they will break or split, regardless what shampoo you use.

I don't shampoo every day, and in fact it's bad for the hair and scalp if you do. Even with those "mild enough to wash every day" brands, shampooing every day strips away the scalp's natural oils (sebum), which eventually causes the scalp to produce extra sebum, making the hair greasy, and leading to people needing to wash every day!! This idea that you need to wash your hair every day is purely a marketing thing - the more people wash their hair, the more products they buy, and the shampoo manufacturers' profit margins go up accordingly. I don't know about shampooing causing hair loss, but I did once read an article which linked the over-use of hair conditioner to hair-loss. I think that with shampooing (as with everything else in life) balance is the key!

i shampoo my hair every other day too. i dont know for sure if shampooing every day is damaging, but i remember my mother saying something to that effect. something about it stipping too much of the oils that your hair needs at least some of to stay healthy. so, every other day for me! lol

yeah that was what my mom told me too. she told me that washing my hair too much will take the natural oil off my scalp (just like how soaps can dry our skin because scalp is also skin) leaving my hair dry. so i shampoo every other day and then i condition my hair if i don't shampoo it. lucky for me my head doesn't smell.

It is not bad if you do not shampoo everyday. I also do not do it everyday. My hair becomes dry too, if I do it everyday. People who have to go outside can shampoo regulaly, but they should use herbal shampoos to keep the hair condition good. Besides conditioners must be used after each shampoo. It keeps the hair moistured. After washing the hair with shampoo, I take one mug of water and mix the juice of a lemon into it, then I poured the water into the hair. It helps to look the hair shiny.

hmm great tips. and you're right about people who is always outside. they really should wash their hair regularly to remove the dirt. and using conditioners would really be good because they leave the hair soft and smooth. i think it's just finding the right concentration for your hair. wait the lemon juice does it really work?

I shampoo and condition my hair every three days. My dad and my sister have very oily hair and they have to wash it every day. My mom and I though tend to have dry hair, so we can't wash it every day or it would become brittle and downright ugly. And it's always nice and clean looking on the third day when I shampoo and condition it.

i don't shampoo everyday, and i can say that i rarely shamppo, maybe it is just once in two week, even sometimes more than two weeks. maybe there is no other people do like me, it is just because i am lazy to shampoo. i also get my hair dry after shampoo, but it is not the main reason for to get shampoo after a long time. but i hope i can change my habbit, so hope i can shampoo minimum twice a week, and ofcourse can make my hair more clean

once every two weeks?! good luck on that. doesn't your head smell? i think you should really kick that habit off. it's becoming a question of hygiene. doesn't your head itch from all the dirt that is there? and if you just wet your hair when you shower, after sometime it will have a nasty smell and it would be sticky. another thing, you might have things living in your scalp. try to shampoo.

Shampooing is good ifypur hair gets really dirty.but daily use of shampoo in a dry hair is not good.It will make your hair more dry & eventually it will lead to hair loss.Try to oil it regularly as your hair is dry.do use conditionar.I don't use shampoo often.it is twice or thrice for me not more than that.after shampoo is chemicals. If you can use herbal shampoo with less chemicals in it.use mild shampoo which is mild on your hair.

I try to shampoo everyday. But, I usually shampoo every other day. I have oily hair, so it tends to smell after 1 day. So, I try to wash it everyday. Sometimes I get lazy, though.
