When you get someone elses mail, do you put it back in the box to go back to the psot office, or throw it away? I have been in this town house for 3 months and am getting mail from people who lived here 4 years ago. i have on a umber of occations put it back in the box, but it still keeps coming and some times the same ones. does that bug any of you out there?

I get more mail for other people then i do myself. I brought a whole bag to the post office a few months ago, i don't think the lady was too impressed. So now I use a marker, scribble over the name and write R.T.S on the front and at the bottom i put moved. There is a mailbox on the way to my daughters school so when i pick her up in the afternoon i just throw it in there. It is very annoying at times, cause like you said the same comapnies keep sending letters over and over again. sometimes i think ,do you not see that I put moved on the darn bottom..lol

What I would do is put a line through the address and at the side put 'not at this address' and just put it in the post box next time you will pass one. I wouldn't throw anything away as I think in life if you can do someone a good turn then you should. Maybe because of Karma, however I live in the house that my family have lived in for over 30 years so the only post I ever get that is not for me is if the postman has given me someone elses by mistake.

I always put a line through it and put it back in the mailbox. I get mail for my brother, my brother's ex-girlfriend from years ago, someone I've never heard of that's related to his ex-girlfriend, my mom under her maiden name from years ago, and other people who never lived in my apartment. I like to send them back so that the people who sent them will know that no one by that names lives there. I've lived in the same place for 13.5 years.

Yes, we've lived in our house for 7 years now and we still get mail for the previuse owner. Usually I write "not at this address" on the envelope and drop it back in the mailbox. If I get my neighbors mail by mistake I might just take it to there door or put it back in the mailbox, depends on my mood. I guess even in this day, Mailmen arnt perfect. LOL. Take care!!

I usually collect it for about a week then write on it "Not at this address" then put it all back in the mailbox. We have lived here for 5 months and are still getting the prior owners mail
