Are they dead?

So has the theory of the island being a state of purgatory come true based on what the fallen girl told Hurley? Does that mean she's "dead" too?

No No NO, this is not purgatory. I read this theory, and although i can't claim it as my own, i really like it: Flight 815 takes off from Sydney with all of it's passengers. - Plane gets off course; Crashes on Lost island. - Ben and the Others see it happen, they infiltrate - Communications with the mainland are still open since the hatch hasn't gone up in a purple haze. - Ben uses the Flame to contact whomever is in charge(Mittleos, Hanso, DHARMA, Widmore?).... someone with money and the resources that a plane has crashed on the island. - Ethan reports back to tell them that it's Flight 815 from Sydney - Ben reports back to mystery person and let's them know this information. - Mystery person uses their resources to fake the plane crashing into the ocean. Thus, leading the public to believe that the flight was recovered and all aboard were killed. - This leaves Ben to perform whatever experiments he has planned for these knew island inhabitants. It was probably a cover up.

I think you are right..It is just a cover up. So the experiements can be done. So no one comes looking for them.

I am begining to wonder if maybe...just maybe the island is somewhere in the bermuda triangle. That would explain alot of the planes and everything else crashing. It would also explain why noone can find the island. It would also explain the weird happenings and expreiments....everthing kept hush hush by the goverment.

Except the bermuda triangle is in the atlantic. they are in the pacific somewhere if you follow the flight path from sydney to LAX and recall the pilot said 'somewhere near figi'. Sorry, hate to burst your theory on that one. the crashes have to do with the island's magnetic field. Which is probaly the only reason they can get there by sub, because underwater, the field will not be as strong.

Yes,but the pilot did say they were way off course. That they would not be looking for them where they had crashed.

I wonder if the girl was delirious or confused. I agree that it is probably some kind of cover up because the "others" don't want anyone to know about their island or their research. But, the fact that she said that to Hurley makes me wonder what is going on. I also wish the did a little more with the girl and explained that, they could have done that right away, but they have, once again, decided to drag things out. May sweeps starts next week, I think, so I'm sure they'll have all the juicy details we are all looking for.
