Why scotch whisky is so popular all over the world

There are so many good whiskies in India and abroad. But people like scotch whisky more than any other drink. Recently I had Jack Daniel it is a fine American whisky. Do you like scotch whisky?

I like Jack but I am not really a whiskey person. I like rum but I will say that Jack is really smoother.
