Do you like fake 'n bake, natural tan, tan in a bottle, or pale and proud?

I've got light skin so I don't tan naturally, I just burn and peel to reveal a layer of more white skin lol. I've tried the tanning lotions and I just get orange, so I give up on that. A few of my friends went to tanning salons, and they all got addicted, now to me they just look freaky, it's very obvious! How about you, what do you prefer?

I use the sunless tanning lotion, I don't have to go out in the sun and it makes me look tan. Well at least it looks tan to me. I just cannot lay out in the sun or I get red and burn, sorry. Plus it causes skin cancer and wrinkles. I just don't like it because I don't tan so I avoid it if I can. But I am pale and proud too, I only use the tanner when I want to and if I don't want to then I don't :). Pablo

I worry about wrinkles too, well I have already got a few ;) I wear sunscreen on my face all the time. I always check for skin cancer too! My grandfather in law had part of his face removed from it, he worked out under the sun his whole life and got it as an old man.

I think a fake bake is obvious, but you can do it in moderation. I think that probably that's your best bet, but make sure you don't get addicted like your friends have and you turn out looking freaky like they do! I am 'naturally' tan so it's no big deal for me, but I can stay in the sun for a few hours and look 'crisp' without much effort. I'd say try the tanning salon, just make sure you use it in moderation. Good luck1

I would, but I'd have to find a babysitter, and that would be lots of money!

I think he has the same skin as me, which is weird since his dad is hispanic! I don't have any family near me :(

Maybe your lo can have a tan too! Hopefully they'll give a discount for being two...J/k. I fortunately haven't paid for babysitting yet, my parents are close enough to take him over if I needed to spend a day out.

Oh I am like you! Pale, blonde, and if I go into the sun, I turn bright red, and then peel - very inattractive, painful, and dangerous. I never try and tan, either naturally or through beds or lotions. I think it looks wrong and unnatural, on someone who is as fair as me, - so I am happy to remain "pale and interesting" - LOL!

I feel so bad for you! I love the summer and I know tanning is bad for you, but I just can't get enough of it. The last couple of summers I go out and tan for a bit before I have to go to work. I don't get very dark but it stays with me into the winter for quite a bit. I just think I look much better with a little bit of color! I tried the tanning beds and they are pretty quick and easy but they just aren't like the real thing.

I need some more color, I have that pale skin where I look sickly and have dark hair to make it even worse!

Being a redhead, I also share your skin pigmentation....I have attempted to "tan" several differing ways just like you....but now I just avoid the sun when I can...I think it is much better for your skin.... Plus, when you add alittle sun to my complexion...you get a whole new crop of freckles.....LOL I must admit that there were times in my life when it bothered me...but no more! I look 10 yrs younger than I am, do not have "age spots", and have very soft skin....these are all things that I attribute to staying out of the sun and tanning beds!! Pale and Proud for me, my friend.

I used to tan outdoors years ago, but deciced it was not really good for me. Skin cancer & wrinkles are what the experts say will happen to you. Not to mention leathery skin. So I have tried different self tanners. Jergans natural glow is good, plus it moisturizes. You can't use it everyday though, or you can turn a little orange. The trick to a healthy glow is to do it 3 days , break for 2 days, and so forth. Another product I like is Banana Boat Summer color Sunless tinted lotion. A trick I have learned is to wear rubber gloves, that way you hands don't turn orange. When you are done apppling it to your body, take one glove off and apply to the tops of hands, then put the glove back on, and do the other hand. Also try to go easy on the feet, ankles, knees & elbows. I have had many compliments on my skin, and I don't have to spend lots of time getting some color.

Here in my country almost everyone's tan. It's funny that a lot of people here prefer to be white or lighter. That's why skin bleaching and there's lots and lots of skin whitening products here, and they sell a lot too. I am natural tan, I'm fine with my color but I wouldn't want to be any darker than this.

I'm pale and I burn FAST. My best friend from cosmetology school owns a salon that has tanning beds in it. Right before I got married, I worked for her part time and would tan there once a week or so. I could only go for about 5 minutes, though. Normally I just stay white. Tanning isn't healthy. I get enough skin damage even when I try to protect. I put sunscreen on me and the baby both, just to go for a 20-30 minute walk. I never wear shorts outside either, unless there is a really valid reason (like at a water park or amusement park where I might get wet). I seriously put 45 spf sunscreen on every 30 minutes or less when I'm outside, and still end up burned after a couple hours.

I gave up on trying to get a tan, but one summer I used that lotion and ended up looking plaid. Didn't smooth it in evenly, I guess. That meant wearing more clothes than I wanted to wear until the plaid faded. Now I'm pale and proud, and when people ask if I feel okay when I feel fine, I know they're just being nice. Sigh.

Pale and proud! I can tan fairly easily and it does look good on me, but I'm originally very pale skinned and I simply don't feel like damaging my skin any longer. I don't mind a slight healthy looking tan, but nothing more than that. I once tried a tanning lotion and it didn't even work on me, so I gave up on that a long time ago.

True, you have to think about skin damage. I'm sure we've all seen the nice "leather" skin on older ladies ;)

I deliberately keep my skin as pale as I can. I use factor 60 and often wear a large hat, a wrap to cover my arms, or carry a parasol. being part Spanish, I tan very easily, so I have to put a lot of effort in. but I prefer the way I look with pale skin. it looks healthier and smoother.

i have been to a tanning salon twice and was quite happy with the results i got the airbrush tan. My skin is very pale so i do burn easily but i can tan easily as well. My favorite would have to be laying out to tan i use lotions as well to help the process but the sun is free and its nice just lay out in it and get alittle bit of a nice tan. :)

I love laying out in the sun, too bad I look like a lobster just from a few minutes lol. I've seen the airbrush tan on television, looks interesting!

I used to go to the tanning bed before I got pregnant with my daughter. But I haven't been since then and that's been almost 3 years now. Wow I can't believe it's been that long! I would never tan myself to the point of being just fried. I would only go like once or twice a week. I've thought about going back but I really don't have time anymore. Not to mention I don't feel like paying to get a tan anymore. I would rather spend that money on my daughter. And I'm not a big fan of the tanning lotions. I haven't been able to find any that don't leave you looking streaky and orange.

I can tan pretty well even though I am really fair skinned/blonde. I usually do it the old fashion way, out in the sun on the beach or what not. But sometimes I have used tanning salons, but always had to stop for one reason or another. I probably looked pretty freaky-too dark! But I still like the tanned look. I prefer it over being pale white, but it really looks odd in the winter, much better to tan in the summer! I have never tried the bottle stuff. I was always afraid of streaks and turning orange and being blotchy.

I was like that with the bottle stuff, I guess you have to exfoliate or it gets really weird on the knees and elbows.
