I was watching this show and the host mentioned that Germans get to have a lot...and I mean A LOT...of days for vacation in a year --- in fact, if you total all of those days, such will total to around 4 months!!! Is this even possible? Nonetheless, if it is true, then I'm moving to Germany! LOL Can you imagine that? Four months of paid vacation! Wow. What can you say about? And how many vacation days do you get in a year right now in your country?

I am from the UK and I don't ever recall hearing that the Germans have that much holiday, it is true that the Eurpoean Union countries have more public holidays where everyone is entitled to time off than other countries and we have good working practices that are competetive and offer reasonably long periods of holiday throughout the year. In my view that is a good thing because a workforce that gets time off is more productive, less liable for sickness and stress and can maintain a better work life balance. Here in the uk the amount of leave will depend on numerous factors such as employment sector, i.e type of industry, whether in the private or public arena and the length of service. I am currently entitled to 29 paid days plus 8 statutory public holiday days.

Wow! That's hard to believe. We can accumulate 30 days vacations in a year excluding weekends. I think it is the normal number of vacations worldwide.
