How do you increase your knowledge

I shall tell you an old story. There were two workers in a timber factory. Their work was to cut woods using axe. The first man worked hard from morning to evening, but he could not cut the quantum of woods that was done by his friend. Seeing this he asked the secret of his work to his frient. " No I am not doing anything special. But after my work I will repair the axe properly to make its sharpness better. Did you ever check the sharpness of your axe before "
The meaning of this story is many of us are living just like a machine, but we are not doing anything to make our knowledge better so that we can better save our institution.
Please tell me your activities for increasing your awareness or knowledge?

i think is increasing knowledge is extremely important ,it is also fun and it also gives self confident ,satisfaction etc .i think in the field of knowledge internet and todays media plays lot of help.but one thing i have noticed is that please dont beleif that this is the final truth about any thing (any matter or any field),coz so much of plays or vested interest is going on in each field is that people are publishing lot facts according to the money they received and they said to us through such researches they have found out this thing and that thing and you have foloow this if you want happines in your life ,pay this much for getting this etc?in all field of life ,now a days i only trust the old monks saying .if i am readin an article i dont trust that fully ,i will search for more whether that article is true or not .alos for layman who is workign hard for the days food ,i dont think they want to increase any knowledge ,instead they will be happy if they get their days food.

I am a stay-in-home mom so that makes me really lazy to do anything. Even my husband complains about me most of the time. But luckily now, I am studying a writing course my friend financially helped me enroll. So that helps me to read more and study more.
I know that reading is the best way to enhance our knowledge and to keep it from properly working. But most people prefer to seat on their sofas and just watch the tube. They don't care about what books can do for them...
