Listening to the radio, someone was talking about a meal that they had every sunday growing up...for me it was the afternoons at the beach - my dad worked from 6am - 2 pm and by the time he got home from work, my mom had everything ready and off we would go until after supper - those days were great!!

I remember lots of things, but one of the first good things I remember was the summer I was three years old. We staed at my fathers family summer house. You had to go there by ferry from town. I was there with my mom and my gtrandmother during the days. In the afternoons the three of us would go down to the ferry and greet my grandfather and father. I'd go on my trike. Often I'd get a popsicle called yes. I remember going down a steep long drive to the peer. I'd go superfast. The hill is not that steep and not that long anymore

Sunday dinner was a pretty fantastic time at my house too. We were expected to be in the dining room and cleaned up (no bare feet or hair curlers). Mom always cooked roast beef because it was the only thing we all liked. Desert was always yellow cake with chocolate icing and in the summer there were gallons of ice tea and an extra cake for my brother and my friends who were welcome to come and have dessert with us. Dinner was only for family but dessert was for a crowd. It was great.

Wow, just thinking about this brought back so many memories...We would all sit around that table and talk for a couple hours. Sometimes we would have to bring kitchen chairs into the dining room. Other times we went into the living room and had dessert while we watched the old Ed Sullivan show. The first time I ever saw the Beatles was on one of those Sundays with my parents and brother and a bunch of friends drinking Mom's famous ice tea and eating yellow cake with chocolate icing. Those were good times.

I have a favorite memory of my dad coming home 1 or 2 in the morning after working afternoon shift. I would hear him, and jump up out of bed to meet him in the kitchen. We would drink a warm cup of milk, and he would tell me jokes until I was laughing, and he'd say that we are being as quiet as baby elephants, and we have to try and not wake mom up.

Well one of my memories is when my dad worked 2 jobs. His 2nd job was part time. He used to deliver pizza's. After he was done at night, he would always bring home a pizza and wake us up to have some. Even if it were a school night. It was always such a treat!
